    Edgar

at least we know what a Geordie Canadian sounds like - an Irishman bluebiggrin.gif
  2. No major transfers in England. Elsewhere, PSG have signed Gallardo from River Plate. really great player when he was at Monaco and during his first spell at River in particular, but injury prone these days though. If he stays 100% he'll be a top buy
  3. if he gets the boot are we going to get all the 'Le Guen for the Toon' threads again? tongue.gif
  4. tbh at the time he played like a headless chicken when he was with us and many fans were not that arsed about signing him, but in hindsight........
  5. 1st signing! whistling.gif http://www.fgmag.com/news/index.php?&newsmode=FULL&nid=3301
  6. Beattie may be first to go as January sales begin Matt Dickinson, Chief Football Correspondent Newcastle United’s search for a target man is likely to lead to them bidding for James Beattie, the Everton forward who has been usurped by Victor Anichebe at Goodison Park. David Moyes, the Everton manager, responded to speculation that Beattie may move to Blackburn Rovers by saying that the striker was not for sale, but Newcastle are expected to test his resolve because Peter Crouch is unavailable. Beattie, 28, has fallen out of favour at Everton and the Merseyside club, who paid £6 million to take him from Southampton, would probably settle for about half that sum. Newcastle had looked at Miroslav Klose, as well as Crouch, but Beattie is a more realistic option as Glenn Roeder, their manager, looks for a big No 9 to play along-side Obafemi Martins. Shola Ameobi is a long-term absentee after hip surgery. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,293-2525895,00.html

  8. who the fk is he? someone from FM?
  9. NOTW say Beattie may be allowed to leave on loan. Mind, it's the NOTW after all
  10. erm, didn't GR mention publicly that he wanted to sign Gile Barnes and Gareth Bale? Talk about hypocrocy http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/23122006/1/roeder-fan-bale-barnes.html
  11. Sam: Newcastle bullied Diouf Bolton boss Sam Allardyce accused Newcastle of physically abusing striker El-Hadji Diouf after the 2-1 win over the Magpies. The Senegalese frontman was substituted late on at the Reebok Stadium after playing a part in Nicolas Anelka's 57th-minute winner. But Allardyce was unhappy with the treatment he received from a Magpies defence with an average age of just over 20. He said: "Diouf terrorised the opposition and got some very, very heavy challenges indeed that were not protected enough for such a quality player. "We got the free-kicks, but there were far too many given against him. They tried physically to abuse him today and they did not get away with it. "He did not react and he helped us win a very important game." Newcastle raced into an eighth-minute lead via Kieron Dyer's second strike in as many games, and might have been further ahead before Bolton hit back. Even then, they needed a helping hand, defender Peter Ramage heading past keeper Pavel Srnicek under pressure from Kevin Nolan 13 minutes before half-time. Anelka ultimately won it 12 minutes into the second half after Kevin Davies and then Diouf had helped on Ivan Campo's long throw to leave the Bolton fans dreaming of Europe once again. Allardyce said: "We have had a tremendous run of victories, but we had that little spell in the middle of it where we were playing some excellent stuff and ended up losing 1-0 instead of getting draws or victories. "It was important today that the players reacted the right way when we went 1-0 down. A few games, we have done that and come storming back in the second half to take the victory. "We are reaping the rewards of a goalscorer at long last and he (Anelka) popped up in the right area for a tap-in. "We have not seen that type of goal from him yet. We have seen a lot of quality runs and skill and finishing. Today we saw a goalscorer's goal when he popped up at the far post and tapped it in. "He got us going even more again in the second half to keep continuing pressing Newcastle and we could have had maybe a goal or two more, but we did not quite find the right final ball or the right shot. "But it was a great victory having gone 1-0 down and having to claw our way back in the first half on what was a poor performance by us."
  12. Which Tescos? Kingston Park? Yep, was packed and I just looked up and there he was picking an orange just as I was getting some oranges. Was a mad day as I bumped into Tim Krul on Northumberland Street earlier in the day and then yesterday I bumped into Damien Duff at the airport, he was picking someone up off the same Dublin flight as I was. reckon he flies on Easyjet? Duff was not flying he was picking someone up who was also in all nufc training wear... not sure who it was.. didn't look like Alan O'Brien. I know, but do you reckon he/Irish contingent would fly on a budget airline when he has to fly back to Dublin? I think its the only airline that flies direct to Dublin from NCL so I presume the 50k a week footballers would have to sit with us poor folk on a cheap airline...tongue.gif

  14. he's only out for a couple of weeks though? somebody dee something else to him bluebiggrin.gif
  15. was about to mention him. Celta wanted to take him on loan but that fell through
  16. It was nice for him to be part of the World Cup winning side this year I thought. A player who has stuck with (largely) one club throughout his career and given his all for the national side, with that much talent, and opportunity deserves a bit of luck. bit gutted for Maldini though after his bad luck with the national team, losing in both World Cup 94 and Euro 2000 Finals. If only he stuck around with the national team for a year or so more, he would've won just about everything going domestic and internationally
  17. I remember Soumess signed him for Benfica....along with Saunders, Scott Minto, Michael Thomas and co tongue.gif
  18. Duff is out injured according to the Journal link
