  1. Let's hope it was a lot. Probably quite cheap though...
  2. Babayaro. Ramage is the most shit, but he can't be on any significant wage, so he's doing less harm than Babayaro

    Copa América

Brazil - Chile on now! Totally forgot about it! 0-0 after about 20 minutes.
  6. No wingers in my book... Butt Barton Emre Owen Martins Viduka
  7. I think Dyer value is massively underrated by most posters here. Newcastle Fan said something about £5m. For me, that's no where near enough, we should be looking at getting £8-10m. He's included in the England squad on a regular basis and even gets to play the games, is, age-wise, in his prime and looks to be over his injury-nightmare (credit to Roeder). EDIT: He can even be seen as a very versatile player, being able to play RM, CM, AM and forward, which also increases his value.

  9. All the signs are that the budget has been seriously exaggerated and I think a lot of people are getting their hopes up. I think Ashley will make quite a bit available and money isn't a problem, but Edmilson's the 4th free transfer (nominal fee apparently) we've targetted, 5th if you include Sidwell. People seem to be expecting a massive squad with established backup everywhere, yet the signs look very different. It's all well and good telling ourselves we're getting cheap squad players, but look at them. Viduka, Barton, Edmilson, Geremi - these are not squad players! Thought Ashley said he wouldn't release funds until the club was de-listed. Saying that I'd prefer signings like Viduka, Barton, Edmilson, Geremi for not much money than Luque (9.5) Marcelino (6.5) and so on. Aye, it'd be great if we gather a squad for next to nowt before Ashleys money comes in to play, then we can spend on some high-profile players.
  10. My barcelona mate rates him very highly, but says he is VERY injury prone...
  11. So he's decided he wants to play football again?

Doesn't rally matter though, does it? The deal is done and it's not like we're in a hurry
  13. Martins/Owen and Gudjohnsen/Viduka. Fucking quality strikeforce that would be. Not going to happen though.
  14. Agree. What if Owen had stayed injury-free and banged in goals for us and then walked away for £9m. Would've been insane! What makes the £9m price-tag on him now understandable is that he hasn't played for almost two years, but of course, this wasn't something Freddy was expecting when the clause was put there.
  15. No. He's obviously saying that he wants to keep him. If I had a player with a get out clause that I wanted to keep the last thing I'd do would be to go on TV & talk openly that Arsenal hadn't made any offers and remind everyone that the player does have a get out clause. If I wanted to keep him I wouldn't say a word to the media & would track down the player and get him to state his intention. Sam seems to do most of his business covertly & did say when he came that he hoped the 1st that the fans new of signings etc would be when they were done. It was unfortunate as he knew how we loved our gossip. He's talking like a fish wife over these get out clauses. “When Oba comes back, we will sit down and say: ’What exactly is the situation?’ and if he has any problems, try to resolve them and hopefully persuade him Newcastle is the place for him next season.” Yeah, it really sounds like he wants to get rid. Especially if you combine it with the "you don't want to lose your top striker" that he said at the press conference when he first sign.
  16. Sounds to me that Sam is confident of keeping Owen.
  17. No. He's obviously saying that he wants to keep him.
  18. Shearer. Had to be done.
  19. I'd imagine that we'd spend some of that 22m we'd get from them to get a striker or two in. Not of the same quality, but strikers non the less
  20. Don't see why people are happy about this. First of all, we really don't need the money. Second, we will have to replace him, does anyone have any suggestions? Tevez? Would probably cost us £20m at least. Third, we still might loose Owen and would have to replace him as well, and I can't for my life see us getting two high-profile strikers this window. Despite a £3m profit, it would be terrible business IMO
  21. I'm with Yorkie on this one. Martins did very well here last season and he will only get better. I'd be disgusted if we sold him to Arse and in a few years he's one of the best strikers in the world.
