Much more effective on the wing, tbh. If we sign Gervinho, we probably won't sign another striker - and will have a player who plays wide right in a 4-3-3 leading the line. He has played a lot as a central striker, I've no doubt that he would do well in that position. A lot? Plays wide right for Lille. He starts wide right, but often moves in centrally. He's also played central for his country. He's got all the attributes to play as a central striker as well.

Gervinho for me, only cause I've seen him a few times, and I think he can play as an out and out striker.

When Lille took Sow off yesterday, Gervinho moved into a central position. He also swapped and changed with Sow for spells during the game, which the commentator said was quite usual for Lille. I would not be surprised at all if we are trying to get him in to play as a centre forward.

I hope the board is only thinking about that if Enrique has made it clear that he's not staying, no matter what. It'd be a huge gamble to replace Enrique, no matter who we realistically replace him with. It's certainly not worth the gamble to save £20k a week. Still, I won't hold it against neither the board nor Enrique should he leave for a better team, providing that we actually do offer him a good contract.

Agreed. A good strong fast back to goal CF of the Drogba ilk. Just a shame they're incredibly hard to come buy and have the most inflated price tags. Funnily enough, Moussa Sow of Lille would be perfect. Imagine their reaction if we got Cabaye, Gervinho and Sow

What's he like energy and athleticism-wise? Couldn't tell from todays game, unfortunately. He's no midget, nor is he a beast, looks average built for a footballer

I've never seen him play. I'm canny shit tbh.

Saw him tonight for the first time. Probably not the best game to judge him by, as it didn't really mean anything. Still thought he had a decent game, some of his passing was excellent. The reason we are enthusiastic is because he's clearly highly regarded in France, he wouldn't be in the national squad if he wasn't.

Both this and Gameiro always felt a little too good to be true.

Yeah, he's been pretty good. Some really classy passing, spraying the ball around the pitch well. First time I've seen him today, so can't really say too much, but looks like a deep lying playmaking CM. Would work really well alongside Tiote in a 4-2-3-1, for example, with Tiote being the ball winning midfielder and Cabaye the playmaker from deep.

M'Vila has been quality for Rennes tonight, btw.
