  1. does anyone have any solid evidence of when any of these players are coming back?

    Michael Owen

if he continues to not get picked for england i can see him moving, i do get the impression he likes it here though,or at least he definitely did when kk was in charge, and he certainly looks commited right now.
  3. we have been absolutely atrocious recently and with no-one coming back into the team we're gonna get beaten again today
  4. thats what i thought the kk and big al is just made up to make us happy i dont even think ashley will be gone by xmas nah thats not what i meant mate, i fully expect ashley to be gone soon, i think that bit was genuine, you can tell a lot just by the way people say things usually. but the keegan and shearer stuff doesnt make sense, why the hell would ashley, or kinear, know who was going to be put in charge once the new owners are here. it was more 'i know the club's going to be sold soon, and i expect it'll be keegan or shearer'
  5. not sure if anyone else has said this but i listened to the interview live, and to me, it sounded like he was saying it to keep us happy while he's here
  6. Probably see the return of Dalglish style management, seeing how Kenny Dalglish is one of Shearer's very good mates. is that serious? Thought that was pretty much common knowledge. Golfing mates & footballing mentor as far as I'm aware. i think you mis-understood me, i was asking if your forecast of shearer taking on dalglish's style because they were very good mates, was serious

  8. phil, what makes you think we have any say in who buys the club?
  9. cant see any reason that taylor should be playing in the centre ahead of him like
  10. i actually think shearer would be a great choice, he's got massive experience at every level, commands respect from players, would be a big draw for players to come here, much like kk the first time around, openly praises attacking football, and would get a lot of time from the fans. give him a couple of good coaches to work with and i'm confident he could do it.
  11. ......we'll say we have beye, enrique, gutierrez to come back. Only Jonas would be making a difference tonight of that three. One man team. i think beye makes a massive difference, he would especially tonight when duff's playing on the right, at least with beye we'd have an attacking threat down that side
  12. Let's hope he really is a toon fan because if he is, what's an extra hundred million or so to a fella with his cash? My gut feeling is still (as I said in the original Ambani thread) that it will be Ambani who buys us. but it wont be for ages yet because ashley still needs to make more of a mess of the club to get back at us for the protests?
  13. they lost me at 'we dont hate cockneys or any other nationality'. i suggest they employ someone who knows the difference between national and regional to do their PR.
  14. So much for the manager being in charge of who comes in and out, eh? I have doubts about whether this bid is genuine, but if it is, these investors might well want to bring in Nigerian players to make the club more popular in Nigeria, and to add some extra excitement and interest for themselves. "Might" being the operative word. The Nigerian investors are likely to be no different than their European or Arabian counterparts. The only reason why the majority of people on here are anxious is because their understanding of global business is limited to Europe and The Gulf. What strikes me as different about this story is that it's not about a single owner or a pre-existing investment group. It sounds like a consortium of businessmen are being put together specifically for the purpose of buying the club. It's a bit like the Magpie group that Sir John Hall put together many years ago, only with Nigerians instead of Geordies. Now what is actually attracting these businessmen to the idea? I doubt if it's about making money. It's more likely the emotional idea about having a team in the English Premiership with a Nigerian identity. You occasionally hear of these attempts at putting a coalition of smaller businessmen together and they don't seem to come off. I suspect this is actually a very tentative idea at the moment which will struggle when people really have to hand their money over. That's if the story has any substance in the first place. we all doubted that last time and look where that got us, we'll be sold for 800 million in two seasons when we're in the championship. i'll be amazed if he gets 400 million, utterly amazed.
  15. that is fucking hilarious, he's creating variations on a theme now. i wonder how wide the marks are going to get, and if any reports will manage to get in between the marks any time soon
  16. joe cole is having an absolute stinker
  17. i dont even know if i can bring myself to watch it on the tv, we're gonna get our asses handed to us by a bad spurs team, at home
  18. has been our best attacking threat since the day he signed, worked his socks off every time he's played for us and scored some crucial goals. was never given a chance by the fans because of injuries, even though his goal record for us is superb. they'll get what they deserve when he fucks off for nothing.
  19. whats next then? shearer in and if he's no good we just set the whole place on fire?
  20. this. it was a stupid starting line up and i said it as soon as they came on the pitch. how can anyone with eyes start ameobi? as an old jackie said to me on the metro on the way up 'we'd be better off starting with ten'. we really missed beye and jonas today, and the 4-3-3 without martins and viduka is really struggling, add ameobi and a debut youngster and its just not gonna work, owen cant play three positions at once. incidentally i heard quite a lot of praise for owen on the way out 'at least he was trying' etc. seriously, fuck off man, he gives his all week in week out. gonzalez looked promising, just what we need, nice to see a midfielder run with the ball and pass forwards. as others have said, get a good man manager in, someone who's tactically good and i think we're still in for a decent season, providing we can keep most of the first team fit, if we cant i think we're comfortably bottom half.
