At Everton a lad turned up after 37 minutes. Went for a pint on 43

Great quote that.

Newcastle United vs. Aston Villa: 13/02/2022 @ 2pm (Sky)
Dr Venkman replied to LRD's topic in Football
Welcome. Expecting a much tougher game against you than Everton, they were pretty hopeless. We really need to win but a draw wouldn't be a disaster. Hoping Bruno gets his full debut as I think midfield will be key and Shelvey is too static against quick players. The atmosphere will be good again, it has been since the takeover, but it won't be as good as Everton IMO for various reasons. -
I’ll never, ever forgive him for that. The 0-3 was the last match I went to with my Granda.

Agree with lots of this. If we’re unchanged I anticipate a lot of calls for Bruno to come in and Lascelles make way for Burn post-match. -
Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

I can help you out with that. It’s because he was really, really good. Stop ruining the ASM thread. -

Did the flag look good? Looked class from where I was but I was underneath it. -

Not so sure, think you have to be proactive and change before you’re forced to. Howe talks about one game at a time but he also said he likes to reward a winning team, which seems a little at odds to me. Anyway, again, what the fuck do I know? -
They're completely beaten on RTG now and calling for all mags to be banned from the forum. We've only won a couple of games

And was then roundly applauded by everyone in SJP, having his name sung etc until KO

I would leave Luke Edwards for a skip, TBF.
-
I wouldn't be too peeved TBH, although I think it would be the wrong call, just don't drop little Joe. That said I thought playing Lascelles and not Bruno last night was a bad decision and I was wrong, so fuck do I know? Really nice having a head coach who knows more about football than me

6.5 after the transfer window. 5.5 now, I think we've made it look like a difficult but achievable task having previously looked like a nightmare. 5.5 because I think we're still susceptible to an injury crisis or some terrible luck with decisions/other results. All being equal though I think we stay up.

That seems to be what he's good at so makes sense to me? I think you give Bruno and big Joe the responsibility to protect and let little Joe concentrate on taking up positions to capitalise on them winning possession? 3 genuine box to box players excites me more than 1 or 2 nice long passes per game.

Counterpoint, you don't *need* a quarterback. Bruno can protect the defence and progress us forward without having to knock it 40 yards because he has other things in his locker?

Not for me Jeff, Willock is a real threat and carries it forward really well, he also has a history of scoring goals which we really, really need. I think some are going to be shocked at how competent we look in all phases with Bruno and the Joe's in midfield. -

I appreciate this point but I do think it will be a case of 'what the fuck was I on about?' once Bruno actually starts and we see how much of an improvement he is. -
Matt Targett set to miss remainder of season with hamstring injury (Howe)

Made a big difference last night didn't he, really promising debut. -
Sitting right behind the gallowgate goal last night so watched him a lot. I think his issues go way beyond nerves/excitement/etc. He looks ADHD to me (though I'm not a real Doctor) and his constant ticks seem to be coping mechanisms.

Pressure's slightly less now off the back of the Everton result but we 100% need a draw as a minimum and could go a long way to assuring survival with a win. Really looking forward to seeing how we play. I reckon get Bruno in to look after FC. -
I think he's got one eye on becoming a coach here.
-
Yep. As I said I didn't want to crucify Lascelles for it as it wasn't his fault and we'd all be head in hands if we'd just scored an own goal, but it was class from KT.
-
Heard an interesting little bit of info last night via an ex-Bournemouth member of staff. Apparently the notion that Howe is very 'matey' with all of the players is inaccurate. He's 100% improvement and football focussed, very intense, and Tindall does the majority of the friendly, morale building stuff.
-
I didn't want to slag Lascelles in that post because I thought he had a good game TBH and the OG wasn't his fault. I can see why he's keeping Lascelles as captain as it basically means we have two.
-
Fair play to him, got it right on the night. Everything feels so much better after a win.
