I think football players earn way more than what is reasonable, but I'd much rather the money goes to them than the clubs/owners/shareholders. I doubt prices in general would go down or even stop increasing for fans if a wage ceiling was introduced. Ultimately it's us football fans who are responsible in this capitalist society. We're the ones who agrees to pay subscriptions, tickets, shirts, memberships etc etc that allows clubs to pay players what they currently get.

Those international breaks in september, october and november Any particular reason, if they need to have so many, that it's not possible to move the October one to the second half of the season?

Chad Maddison scores in cup final. Virgin Maddison gets relegated.

Only way he leaves is if it's for a fee that was truly transformational for us, even under current ownership. It would be silly money in the range of transfer records. Nothing to worry about no matter how sad it would be to see him go.

Random thought, and I don't know why, but every time I hear or read Stuttgart, I always think of Tomorrow never dies James Bond: It won't look like a suicide if you shoot me from over there. Dr. Kaufman: I am a professor of forensic medicine. Believe me, Mr. Bond, I could shoot you from Stuttgart und still create ze proper effect.

A lot of hand waving and kicking feet into the ground while down to express enormous pain and injustice in this match.

I have an annoying feeling Nunez will do really well next season. 15 goals and had 4 assists in 42 appearances this season considering what the expectations were isn't great, but it's not awful either just by looking at the numbers. A small improvement in his composure/finishing and he doubles his goal tally easily.

For all their faults, the one thing we knew was that our players for the most part were hard working and a tight knit group of players who were able to work to a specific system under Rafa. We see ASM is trying admirably to be a team player and follow Howes instructions, but out of all the players who's played for us this season I can't think of anyone who is worse in our team when we don't have the ball. Far from given that Maddison will be able to adopt a new way of playing. In that regard I'd say it is advantage Szoboszlai who is used to playing a high pressing system at Leipzig.

Worth it for the throw back intro.

Played 618 minutes in all competitions, which is just under 7 games in total. Probably the only disappointment this season for me that he wasn't given more opportunities.

Can't take a gamble on that 22 year old mega talented, national team captain with 4 years of Champions League experience. Better play it safe and get some of that older trustworthy bottom half Premier League experience to guide us to another top 4 finish and Champions League campaign.

aw fuck. Was it really necessary to dig that one up again?

Just looked at his PL goal contributions this season. From the 10 goals, 3 are from free kicks and 1 penalty. From the 9 assists, I was surprised to see only 1 was from set pieces. Would have guessed it was more. There were a couple of "soft" ones where he just plays a simple pass for one of his team mates to score a wordly though. It was really only the assists against Brentford and Everton where he showed the ability to unlock an opposition defense in a way where I thought probably only Bruno and Willock would be able to spot and make the same pass in our side. It was only the goal from open play against Wolves where he made the goal for himself. Main thing I'm left with is that despite a good number of goal contributions, he is nothing special. Looks more like a midfield equivalent of the old goal poacher. Can he serve a purpose here, sure. He would improve the squad, but I don't think he improves our strongest 11. I'm also sure with our new scouting network maturing we should be able to find someone way more useful at same or better price. To those playing the Wijnaldum card, remember that Wijnaldum was in his first season in England when he was with us. He was a regular international and captain for Feyenoord before he joined us. He was also used in a completely different role at Liverpool, Feyenoord and Netherlands than he was with us (probably because of the Norwich game). It's not comparable or realistic to expect Maddison to improve the same way Wijnaldum did.

Watching the all goals of the season video just published by the club and seeing Bruno in the first half looks like a completely different player to the one we've seen the last few months. Hope he sorts out his injury problems so we can get a fit and fresh Bruno back for next season.

Ameobi needs to find a perfect club for Miley to go on loan next season. Looked very capable, and don't think he'll get enough minutes here next season.

We're beyond the normal rotation players today, and it shows. Think we win today with Longstaff, Joelinton & Willock available.
-
Tbf he is a central midfielder, as opposed to Gordon.
-
Don't think it's possible to find a winger who is on par with him in terms of work rate and stamina, but better technically.
-
And to people saying we shouldn't care how the game ends because we've got CL: Kindly fuck off We have the opportunity to finish 3rd in ahead of Man Utd. Should be enough motivation for the players to leave everything they've got on the pitch today.* *Regardless of result today it's still been a magnificent season, in case that needed to be clarified.

Looked like that after 15 min tbh.

Howe worked wonders on Almirons movement in the summer. Imagine how good he will be next season when he has taught him it is possible to shoot in the near corner and use his right foot as well.
-
Seems obvious that we are defensively a bit shaky today considering we're playing a midfield with Anderson & Gordon in it instead either of Longstaff, Joelinton & Willock. Don't think it has anything to do with Targett or Burn at LB.
