Doesn't seem smart to be playing fatigued players either. There's also the risk of upsetting players we would like to keep because they don't get a sniff of action. Especially when he knows f.ex in Targetts case that he is a very capable player who performed excellent in his system last season. Next season we're potentially playing 60+ matches so he needs to get used to rotating the whole team.

Then a few "judge me after x amount of time". Which first period exactly was the good one?

Why bother with a weak, slow, lazy relegation contender midfielder. He's the typical tailwind player. Looks good when his team is in the flow. Does nothing to help drag his team out of a difficult situation. Don't see the point in spending 30/40/50m on someone that helps us win 3-0 instead of 2-0. Rather want a midfielder who can help us turn a defeat or draw into a win.

I love the concept of VAR, but in classic British fashion you manage to over think, over regulate on details but not properly regulate the bigger issues and over complicate the use of it. With the exception of Tottenham and Man City away second half of last season we were just as solid defensively as we are this season, when Targett was the primary LB and looked excellent. I don't think our defensive record this season with the current back 4 is justification for not starting to bring Targett into the mix. I don't mind Burn though, and every player should be allowed to have off days without people starting to wish them benched, sold or given away to Darlington.
