He didn't say our recruitment wasn't fit for purpose, but our transfer policy. He was right, because we've paid for that policy the last three windows by not having the leeway to buy players and staying within PSR requirements.

At this point we should just let Howe nominate who he wants to end all the drama conspiracies. At what point do we become the baddies if we continue to cycle through personnel responsible for recruitment like we have uo until now?

Callum Wilson: offered 'incentive-based' contract extension (Ornstein)
Conjo replied to Strawberry's topic in Football
I'll need a reminder on that one if I did. As far as I can remember I didn't want Burn playing at left back. Never had an issue with him at CB. Haven't been very critical of Trippier either. Feel I've been pretty consistent in wanting him to stay here beyond his playing career because of his leadership qualities. -
Callum Wilson: offered 'incentive-based' contract extension (Ornstein)

I'm willing to give Howe a pass on any new player he brings in. However for the older players we've seen playing for us for years I reserve the right to disagree. We've all seen and analyzed Wilsons performances this season, and it is absolutely valid to question and critique it if he is indeed given a new contract. He'll just be an ineffective hindrance to younger players getting a chance when Isak is injured or rested. If Wilson stays, we know he is playing. Howe is too loyal to the older tried and tested players, even when its painfully obvious they are way past it and younger players behind them would be a better option simply because they actually can run. -
Their survival is 100% reliant on their young players improving and realizing their potential. If they get their confidence knocked out of them early doors it could just as well be a new record low point tally. Really looking forward to the derby games again next season.

Qualifying by being a little less shit than Villa on the day definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Time to jump into Tam-riel and forget the world for the rest of the day. I'm sure I'll be more happy we actually qualified tomorrow.

The amount of players playing on ice skates today man.
-
Assuming Burn at LB now because Trippier isn't fit to play a whole half. Botman will come off for Trippier at 60 minutes or thereabout, Livramento shifting back to LB.
-
He needs to make the runs for them to create something for him.
-
Thank god Isak was able to be wheeled out to do absolutely nothing. Would be nice to see him at least try once to make a run in behind or busting a gut to get to the ball first on a cross.

Tomasz Radzinski? James McFadden? Marcus Bent?

There's not much risk with Mbuemo, but there isn't much reward either. He's highly unlikely to get better at this stage, so we get what we get and prey it's worth the astronomical PL-premium we'd havet to pay. If we bought him, and he had a good season, I don't think he'd be a big improvement in terms of numbers on what Murphy has provided us this season. I'd rather we took a calculated risk on someone cheaper and younger that could potentially become better than Mbuemo, while leaving us with more to spend on other positions as well.
-
Normally no, and ofc I don't know for sure, but they are allegedly buying a €40m player for €16m. The saudi club isn't agreeing to that out of the kindness of their hearts, so its most likely a reduced transfer fee to subsidise his wages.
-
Ain't no way a player that cost £64-75m is on anything less than £100k a week, especially for a club like man utf. I don't care even if Højlund posts a screenshot of his taxes or pay slip that contradicts it.
-
Or the transfer fee is so low because his wage will remain high.
-
Poor Man Utd players with their 95% wage deduction clauses if they don't qualify for CL.
-
It's what they do mate
-
Worthy goal for both of these teams.

I'd fanboy out so hard if we bought a Norwegian that was good enough to actually start for us. I doubt Walle Egeli is that though. Doesn't strike me as a player that has the physicality to do well as a wide man in the PL.
-
Mbuemo doesn't strike me as the type of player that is easily discouraged. Think he'll perform decently no matter how shit Man Utd are. Delap will always harry and work hard even if the quality isn't there. Cunha on the other hand...
-
Agree, but he seems capable of receiving the ball and make enough space for himself with his first touch and vision to find a progressive pass rather than sending it backwards or sideways. He just doesn't do it either by instruction or lack of belief that he can do it, or a combination of both.
-
Although understandable why he doesn't, I wish he took more risks to showcase his ability. Reckon he has the ability to get past his press and create something out of it. He's just not comfortable doing it in fear of losing the ball.
-
We'll find a way to make this way more nerve wrecking than it has to be. Reckon we'll match Chelsea and Villas respective results on the day and qualify on GD.

He's missed 9 games this season with three different injuries. On top of that hes played two periods this season while managing an injury, where he has not played well....and since he joined us, this season is the one where he's been least injured Can totally understand Arsenal fans being a bit apprehensive of going all in on one player, whom there's a big chance could miss out on several important matches next season through injury. Isak is in a weird spot right now where he's way too valuable to us than what anyone else would reasonably pay for him.
-
Doubt it since he signed a new contract end of October The guy is most likely just not in form at the moment. Main responsiblity lies with Howe having the guts to bench him if he isn't showing any improvements in traning up until the Everton game. Would love to see the direct, hard working goal threat of last season next sunday. This version that just half commits to pressing, doesn't track back, misses easy passes, can't control the ball, doubles down on dives by staying down feigning injury rather than getting up and chasing back if he doesn't get the free kick he was after doesn't offer us anything.
