I think he should be allowed a slow start to the season as well. If we're bottom half of the table and potentially in a relegation battle when 3/4 of the season if played then fair enough, get someone in to try to survive, while also giving the new manager some time go get familiar with the squad in order to identify where improvements are needed for the summer. No point keeping Howe here if the owners are ready to axe him after 5 games (remember when Shepherd did it to SBR?). Then they might as well get someone else in now and give them the summer window to allow them to get some of their players in.

Not sure if he is realistic, but I like the look of Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Belgium after a quick Dennis Wise scout. 21, 188cm, can play LW and ST, currently at Lille. He's tall, fast and seems to be good at pressing so he ticks the Howe boxes. Seemingly better technique and dribbling than Gordon.

Bar Diof, Bissaka and Summerville that entire West Ham team can just about match Botman and Bruno for speed, which isn't a good place to be when you're playing to soak up pressure and hit us on the counter. Had they pressed us more and higher up the pitch like they did for two 10 minute periods they would probably have gotten something out of this. We were making so many idiotic mistakes then it was bound to go wrong eventually. Maybe they didn't have the energy to keep that up for any longer.

Would hate to see West Ham relegated. They are usually the easiest 3 points we get during a season, as they were today. The two ~10 minute spells where they were pressing us with tempo & numbers we were struggling big time, yet they let us do our thing for the remaining 70+ minutes.
