  1. First seconds: "I am a fan" 24 - 29 seconds: "If I was a supporter" Quite the turnaround
  2. Asm won’t play for Bruce again. I hope you're right
  3. Bruce's buffer was good enough to keep us afloat until ASM is back. We'll be fine.
  4. omg, just looked at live scores and saw Sheffield up 1-0. So predictable
  5. Wilder on the windup I always think opposing managers that come out and praises our manager does it to serve their own interest in keeping us down by keeping the manager in the job as long as possible. Can't remember many coming out and saying the same when Benitez was here. Maybe just my imagination.
  6. Twiglet? Yes!!! Was Shane Ferguson I was talking about btw.
  7. Have to agree with Big Ron. Is difficult to see if there was any contact or not. Certainly wasn't on the foot they were icing down at the end of the clip.

    Joelinton

Tbh I heard Bruce voice activating several players a few games ago. Matty, Wilson and Hayden in particular. Problem is it doesn't help if one player is pressing while rest of the team is in their own half.
  9. A big problem with many of the academy players that have been given a chance for the last 20 years, at least for midfielders and attackers, is that they have not had the physicality and/or pace needed in the PL. While they are no technical wonders, there's a reason why Carroll, Ameobi, Dummett and Taylor have been our most successful youth products in that time period. If f.ex Armstrong was a bit taller and stronger, I bet he would (if not sold on to a better team) still be playing for us. Same goes for the northern irish midget twig that played out wide who I cannot remember the name of, Chopra and maybe Donaldson. It seems the Longstaff brothers lack what is neccessary to succeeed as well, although playing consistently out of neccessity rather than actually being good enough. Hope this guy has what it takes. Nothing more fun that to watch a local guy do well in the team. Watching Carroll tearing it up in that half season back in the prem, S. Longstaff bossing the midfield in those 8 or so games before his injury under Benitez was in a way just as enjoyable as watching HBA play.
  10. Sounds like an improvement on the last few games I've seen where we'd be lucky to do regain possession after chasing shadows for 3-5 minutes, then pass, pass, long ball crossfield, lose possession.
  11. It's a bit unfair to have Carver there imo due to the limited time he was in charge as an interim manager, but since he's a choice he wins it in a landslide imo. The rest are much of the same. I honestly couldn't say which is the worst. The one I've hated the most is Pardew because of the potential in the team at the time and how he managed HBA in particular, but as a manager I doubt any of the others would have done much different.
  12. From the games I've watched I always feel Brighton has been a bit hard done by. They play decent football, but maybe it's a bit naive to play that style until they have more quality in the team.
  13. He definitely isn't, but I can easily see him say it anyway
  14. Tbh I could totally see Bruce saying the same. It's just another way of saying "go out there lads, do your best and work hard" without any sort of plan. It might have worked 30+ years ago if you had the best players. Not so much in 2021 with a below average squad.
  15. There is no #BruceOut shit. But nice try to deflect blame to the fans. Did you even care to see one post above mine? I'm not deflecting any blame either, just saying it's pointless and shouldn't be a thing anyone cares about.
  16. Unless Rafa is willing to come back, and Ashley is willing to give him the same budget as Bruce has had without interfering with whom he choses to buy and sell, then there's no point starting any #BruceOut shit. It'll be the exact same shit coming back in again, rinse and repeat in 12-18 months.
  17. Werner came to the PL with a good record, and looked very dangerous early on when he was used as the main striker. Haven't watched much of Chelsea for a few months, but get the impression he is used more out wide now? If used correctly i think he'll deliver. Wrote this on Havertz back in september: https://www.newcastle-online.org/forum/index.php?topic=102957.msg7316002#msg7316002 Not much has changed since then. He did really well at his former club
  18. Going soley on accomplishments at previous club. Maybe I should have clarified that.
  19. so it WAS him? Wrote this in the match thread: Inspiring instructions.
  20. Feels like its partly my fault for captaining kdb this round.
  21. Who's the loon on the sideline that is constantly screaming "UP! UP!" and what sounds like "xxx GO GET HIM"? Is that what the tactical genius Bruce can offer the team today? Edit: for a few seconds when we had the ball the same bloke was shouting "PASS! PASS!"
  22. Werner and Havertz buys are starting to look awfully bad. Both are obviously great players but both of them should play up top instead of being shoehorned into unfamiliar positions.
  23. Exactly right Great read until you come to the replies, with people like Jay Jay and Paul Anthony piping up with the standard nonsense you hear from people who for some reason didnt like Benitez.
  24. Shelvey, Hayden and Longstaff could get some game time at Burnley, Sheffield, WBA and Fulham, but they wouldnt be guaranteed starters. They'd struggle to get in any other team though.
