I'm still optimistic and think he'll stay. It will take quite a lot for him to leave. At the moment he wants one thing with his career and that is a long time project. To build something up, and to compete, which he thinks he can do with us. It also has to be near Liverpool, and I don't see that many other options around. The city and fans are also important for him, and we are the perfect match. I think he will fight to stay and to get things his way. He had quite a long fight with the owners of Liverpool too who promised him the moon, but didn't live up to it. There is of course always the chance Ashley and Carr totally runs him over, and he feels he has no other option then to leave.

For the past decade it has mostly been shit with this club. Not just on the field, but off the field too. From the sacking of Keegan, to renaming of St James' Park, banning media, shit sponsor and unhappy supporters launching sackeveryoneatnufcandburndownsportsdirect.com to just name a few things. Now this is what we have. I get a tear in my eye just thinking about what Rafa has done with our beloved club in the short time he has been here.

Have McClaren said what kind of character they are looking for? When I first heard him, I thought he meant people that wants to win and that give 100% no matter what, compared to what we saw last season when our lot barely bothered after we went a goal down. I don't think he cares if they are a bad apples or not, as long as they are professional and give everything for the team. That's how I interpreted it.

What's the source for him wanting a year out of football anyway. Are you not confusing him with Garde? Sorry, but don't have any source. Didn't confuse him with Garde though. I know very little about Garde, but I follow Bundesliga very closely. Read it in some interview last summer/autumn, but don't remember where. The reason he quit was that he felt he had given Mainz everything he could, and that he didn't think he would be able to improve them anymore. He thought the club needed new energy and it was best both for them and him that he quit. But even if lots of clubs been interested in him, his agent have said he won't manage any new team until 2015 (so he might be interested already now, but it sounded more like he meant this summer when the settlement ends). Also Heidel (Mainz manager, more like a DoF in Bundesliga) said at the time Tuchel was going to take some time off.

Tuchel doesn't recieve a salary, and doesn't cost Mainz anything. There is a fee in the agreement he made with Mainz if another club wants to sign him before the summer, but that fee will be the same no matter if it's one year or one day left of the contract. Tuchel decided to sign this settlement with Mainz, since he planned to take a year off anyway.
