  1. So the price is £150m + £90m of debt, yet Ashley was apparently ready to sell last year for £80m with no debts. Ignoring that, the club probably is worth more than Liverpool simply because we don't require a new stadium, so whilst Liverpool's owners really need to invest a further £300m in the club before spending on the squad anyone thinking of buying us would only need to invest in the squad.

    The voices in his head?
  3. My mistake, I was thinking of the home game against Fulham
  4. Yeah, the "injury" for the Stoke game. A sore groin due no doubt to a complete lack of bollocks.
  5. Ranger was completely isolated for most of the game, there were occasions when he did win the ball only to find that Lovenkrands & the midfield were nowhere near him to offer support leaving him up against 2 or 3 Arsenal defenders on his own. Considering what happened later in the game, I wish that he'd fallen over the keeper when he went through at 0-0 & got one of them sent off.

Bit early in the guys career to be saying stuff like that. Thought he put himself about quite well at times tonight. Very raw though and needs to probably go out on loan. But can you ever see him getting 12+ goals a season? This time last year could you see Andy Carroll ever getting 10+ Premiership goals in a season? I thought Carroll was pretty poor as a striker for a good while & thought that he had a better chance developing as a centre half than as a centre forward but he got a great run of games last season and improved massively. Ranger will not really develop much further without a good run of games and he really needs to go out on loan to a Championship team to improve his game as he's not going to get enough time on the pitch here.
  7. Can't say we didn't deserve to lose that, the defending was embarrassing throughout the game. But, the referee and his assistants were an absolute joke and really have no place officiating at this level.
  8. This. We don't have the quality in the team without anyone good enough to break down a team set up to contain us, away from home or against better opponents we fair better since they're the ones doing all the attacking which leaves more space for us.

There's always one. Remember when we played Feyenoord and the Sad Mackems travelled to sit in the away end? Edit: Bale scores a beaut. Bale > The rest of the Spurs team combined

    Wayne Rooney

I believe that Scholes, Giggs & VDV are retiring at the end of the season, no idea about Neville but he's in the same age bracket so it wouldn't surprise me if he was retiring too. Hargreaves has apparently said recently that if he can't overcome his current injury then he'll have to retire too. So that's 3 definitely going + maybe 2 more. Ferdinand has been so injury prone recently that he's likely to be moved on sooner rather than later. Owen only has a 2 year contract with them & I can't see it being renewed. Berbatov's contract runs out at the same time as Rooney's, there's got to be a huge question mark over whether he'd sign an extension with so many other players leaving. So that's potentially 7 or 8 first team players leaving in the foreseeable future with little or no money coming in to replace them. To replace Giggs, Scholes & VDV will cost them a small fortune even before you look at the other players who they'll need to replace. All of this at a time when the club is losing money hand over fist to cover the purchase of the club. Unless there's some significant investment coming from somewhere then frankly Rooney has a point - there's nowhere near enough money available to rebuild that team.

How the fuck did he expect to nick Mike Ashley with no one noticing?
  12. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/owner-insists-he-will-not-throw-money-at-liverpool-2109459.html So, that'll be them selling Torres & Gerrard in January & a massive hike in ticket prices next year then.
  13. Did they not say that the better offer came after they had agreed to sell though? Don't think it would matter if they weren't willing to consider the other offer(s). That's what I'm saying they had agreed to sell hence listened to offers agreed on someone and then this new bid came in afterwards. I believe that a US court wouldn't care (Qwest lost a case in the US brought against the board by shareholders for lost revenue after Qwest refused to break US wiretapping laws & lost some government contracts).

  15. Not sure whether we have any similar law to the US law that a company board must do everything possible to maximise shareholder profit else H&G would have a good case against the other board members if they have indeed ignored other, higher, bids in favour of this one.
  16. Injured I assume. They've managed his injuries & subsequent recoveries appallingly over the last 12 months or so. Desperation. He & N'Gog are the only out-and-out senior strikers at the club and you can see what happens to them when he's injured/misfiring.
  17. cant keep up with the play, cos of the weight of the bags of Gold in thier back pockets. FUCKING CHEATING BASTARD REF. I couldn't say if they were on the take or if they were making simple (and crap) calculations like Tevez is a better player than Williamson therefore that's a foul, or Shola has all the grace of Bambi on ice therefore he probably just fell over. Judgements based more on their preconceived ideas of what players are like than on what's actually going happening in the game.
  18. I don't think many (if any) of them can keep up with the pace of the game so they're consistently behind the play. The same goes for linesmen. A fast ball played from one end of the pitch to the other with a fast runner on the end of it will see the referee 30-40 yards behind play with only the barest idea of what's going on, like today with the Tevez "penalty". Without the benefit of replays they're never going to be able to make the correct judgements. Without replays I think the only way forward is going to be another couple of linesmen on either side and/or a couple of additional referees who can stay in either half.
  19. I've always been of the opinion that once the supporters of a club start discussing who could take over as manager the current manager's days are numbered. A lot of their fans are already talking about who could replace Roy Hodgson & there were apparently chants of Dalglish coming from the Kop towards the end. They've got the derby game next followed by two "winnable" games against Blackburn & Bolton before the end of the month. If they don't come away from those games without at least 6 points I can't see him being in charge by November.
  20. He's very Ameobi-esque, too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Premiership.
  21. There used to be a website rightresult.net that showed what the league table would look like without the mistakes. I'm not sure if it is still being updated though, it's asksing for a username/password at the moment. The league table without mistakes in the season we went down highlighted how many decisions went against us that season, we would have stayed up by a few points but for crap refereeing. Sadly I can already see this season going the same way.
  22. A fair indication that nobbling HBA was their top priority at the start of the game. No one has been able to get close to him in his previous starts, it was always a fair bet that other teams would try and take him out by other means. Yeah. It was what in American football would be called 'unnecessary roughness.' I presume he wasn't out to nobble the player, but I think it was designed to hurt and put him off. It was a similar tackle to the one that got Barton sent off against Liverpool, in that he allowed his trailing leg to follow through. De Jong was a bit more subtle. I disagree that it wasn't designed to nobble him. De Jong went in to hurt Ben Arfa, as other thugs do to players week in week out. Not for one moment saying he tried to break his leg, but the intention was to put the player out of the game early on. Shouuld be banned for the length of Ben Arfa's injury lay-off - same goes for the likes of Shawcross, Henry, or any other player who seriously injures a player through a foul challenge If the tackle had been made by some no-name British player for a mid-table team the media would be calling for his head right now but since the tackle was by an (alleged) cultured international footballer playing for a title-chasing club there's almost no chance that there will be any action.
