I think he’s a good appointment with an eye to possible relegation. Most of their bigger players will clearly leave in the summer and he could be left with a young mouldable squad. He’s always done better with young players he can mentor and teach who can see that he is improving their career and prospects. It’s when he’s given a team of established stars they don’t take kindly to someone trying to tell them they are doing the basics wrong. They have a lot of players who’s deals expire in the summer and many more with one year left. May be a bit like Burnley where the fire sale can be used to build a more dynamic young squad with some loan signings on top. As shit as they have been they still have quite a few saleable assets.

Watched a video about Brighton’s recruitment the other day, didn’t realise that the Brentford owner worked for Tony Bloom’s (Brightons owner) analytics firm. He left and set up a rival business and the two aren’t in speaking terms. Slightly off topic but it’s very interesting watch.

It felt like he was tactically on it on Sunday both positionally and his choice of passes. Did the same move a couple of times where he looked to slide the late running midfielder in at the edge of the box. With better finishing he’d of had at least three assists. Was the first time in a long time he looked like he wasn’t trying to avoid aggravating an injury.

Rio constantly did a thing of asking a question then answering his own question. Murphy came over well, felt like he was mimicking some of Howes way of talking at times (just certain turns of phrase) it’s clear that he’s fully bought in.

They were sitting the tier below me and looked to be having a whale of a time. What a match to get to. Couldn’t see Berbatov in their ranks unfortunately.
