  1. If he’s half as good as we believe we won’t be selling him anywhere. Dumb question but something like a sell on fee would only apply to the period covered by the contract he initially signs here? I assume you can’t just sign a new deal immediately to invalidate a clause but when say the five years period of his initial deal is up that the sell on doesn’t apply anymore?
  2. Whilst I think there is obvious soft power elements to the takeover, I’ve always found the idea that reputation laundering being the primary motivation a bit naive. More people in Newcastle and nationally are probably way more aware of the issues with the Kingdom in Saudi Arabia than they were two years ago. The idea that they are just trying to get Westerners to like them just feels a bit arrogant. We’re really a combination of many things. An investment, a prestige asset, a giant billboard for Saudi brands and a soft power tool. There’s also a element of Middle East proxy competition with City, PSG etc.
  3. I still hear that third bullet point all the time, they rarely have a convincing answer to who they mean by ‘getting and elite manager in’. It’s usually Mourinho.
  4. I don’t think the clubs look at it that way, both in the same position of having to play the accounting game. For all intents and purposes it’s a permanent transfer.
  5. Because they may want to do business with us in the future and our owners are pretty friendly with each other. Small world the premier league.
  6. Not really. The top Europe leagues are littered with Chelsea and City graduates. You might never play for their first team but statistically your much more likely to end up with a career at the more profitable end of English/European football. The few that end up really near the first team are usually pretty top draw but aside from them it’s book balancing scheme.
  7. Olise cycled through the academies of Arsenal, Chelsea and City, probably realises he’s better off at Palace for now
  8. Is Pizza Rob considered tier 1 now?
  9. So they’ll be missing Salah and potentially their DM for a crucial part of the season. Lovely.
  10. Bit of both I suspect, we need a LB but this deal only seems to have become viable with Chelsea’s mental spending. We recruit to skill profiles and likely have a list of players for the position. Agents etc likely made aware if we hold an interest.
  11. Only signed last summer, I hazard Palace will want a pretty price. They have all the leverage.
  12. Charges dropped due to key witnesses dropping out, not quite the same.
  13. he’s been excluded from the first team training for the best part of a year so they probably don’t think about him much apart from the former Bournemouth lot
  14. Dazn have the UK rights so if you want to watch poorly matched boxing matches and sub par Arabian football it’s the obvious choice.
  15. I think we might try and get a Brazil friendly at some point in the future with J7 and Bruno. You’d easily sell out SJP for that.
  16. The FutMob is based on stats, it’s not just someone selecting it.
  17. Yeah he just came over as a confused old man there. I’m not sure anyone could watch that game and believe we were played off the park.
  18. Cheers man, just seems weird with the lack of real quality striker options out there that he’s stayed put. Esp with Man U buying a 20 year old with a broken back and Chelsea signing a lad with one good season at Villarreal.
