It is really, I mean its 7 goals in 29 games, a pretty awful record. Shola could score 7 in 29, probably more. His goals to games ratio would say otherwise. Ameobi got 9 in 30 last season didn't he? Which is a better goals to games ratio. Regardless either of these two planks playing any predominant role in our season is f***ing comical. It's not about them playing a PREDOMINANT role, it's about them filling in when we're up against inferior teams that we should be able to beat, even when resting one or two of our most valuable players. Against the inferior teams, they know they are going to be fighting for survival come the end of the season, and will be up for it, the last thing you want to do is play with Lovenkrands, you are effectively a man down. Even in the Championship, every away game, this was the case. This is the truth.

This is the biggest load of crap any of you will read today. I thought it was pretty near the mark. The Shola hatred is over the top from some quarters. He's not good enough to start but he has scored important goals for us in the past. As a back up option he is ok imo. It's pretty much spot on. Similar levels of striker include people like James Beattie and Cameron Jerome, who don't have obvious weaknesses and look more capable, but never give defences the problems that Shola does. The paradox with Shola is that although he's not great at bringing the ball under control, when he does get the ball between his feet, he's useful. With his strength, his quick feet and those long legs which can nick the ball away from defenders at the last second, he can create chances for himself and others. People just get angry with him for the clumsy moments. Oh shut the fuck up, man. The 'clumsy moments' happen everytime the ball goes near him in 5 out of 6 games he plays.

I don't really see much of a problem with that approach, providing you replace them. We replaced Carroll with Ba so far, time will tell if it was a good move. I remember when Shepherd said Abramovic didn't have enough Roubles (sp?) to buy Jenas, I was happy with that, but in 12 months later I was well f***ed off. That was Dyer, not Jenas.
