He's been our best player this season alongside Coloccini. I'd call that backing it up. Maybe our best player but he's not the "best midfielder in England" he's been very good but was dreadful for the 3 years prior to this season, not to mention spending some of that time in jail ffs. His history of behaving like a complete scumbag means that people will jump all over him when he comes out with this kind of nonsense & it's something he's only brought on himself.
