The players aren't to blame for Alan Smith starting against Blackpool instead of Tiote. Like you knew owt about Tiote then. Hughton has seen him in training for 2 weeks. I refuse to believe that he didn't look ten times the player Alan Smith is from his first minute on the training pitch.

In the last 4 months, Carroll has given every indication that he belongs and will excel at this level.

As much as I understand Wullie's disappointment, his analogies have been bordering on embarassing tonight. Comparing this to hypothetical situations involving Ancelotti, Ferguson and now Carroll. I'm dissapointed too, we all are. Have a break from it, mate. Let's see how it turns out.

Tactics crap? He changed them to the approval of most people on here when he needed to. I for one think he was learning fast and realising where he was going wrong and where he was going right. I don't think he would ever of had us as a top class side, but given time and finance stabilise us as a top 9/10 side. And as for the fitness levels? I'm not even going to bother. That's because you're lazy and overmatched. Hughton got the tactics and/or selection horribly wrong against WBA, Bolton, Fuham, Blackburn, Wigan, Stoke and Blackpool. You can't argue that he ever demonstrated genuine tactical nous. Neither can you argue with the assertion that several of the players look severly lacking in physical endurance. Guthrie, Nolan and Shola to name three.

I wanted him to be replaced in the summer, voiced it on here and got shit for it. But the summer ended and it was time to get behind what we had and give the guy a chance.
-
A manager that is first and foremost afraid to lose isn't destined for any great success. The fitness levels are crap and the tactics have mostly been crap. He's obviously quite a good man-manager and he's a hard-working likeable bloke. I've no doubt, he'll do Ok, but probably not at this level.
-
The results of the poll are pretty surprising. Yes, I think it's a bit premature, but was Hughton ever realistically the right man, long term? It was always going to end at some point this season or next.
-
The timing is good, should we get him. Plenty of time to plan for the transfer window.
-
I'd be delighted with Jol for Hughton, personally.
-
It'll be Jol.
-
Yeah, organize a protest before a replacement has even been announced. Bunch of fucking idiots.
-
Betting suspended on him.
-
On Hughton? I don't think it is. It's his incredibly expensive squad that are below us and took a right royal arse-kicking in August. The same squad who were 6th with him in charge. Their fall says a lot about his ability. Not saying he's god or even great, but i'd be far more confident of survival with O'Neil than Hughton or the last few turkeys we've had in charge.
-
An average manager would be lovely.
-
He'd keep us up, at the very least. It's an improvement.
-
Wouldn't want O'Neil. I'd hate to think we'd finish 6th.

And who on earth is this a reference to, out of sheer morbid curiosity? Paul Barron I would assume. And when was Paul Barron one of the best goalkeepers in the country?
-
Nice guy, very tenacious, deserves a lot of credit for last season.

How can he be serious? the only person in this forum who support the decision ...... Hate him I said yesterday that I thought he was on the verge, but I also said I didn't support it. I also said in this thread that it was too soon. How much more do you couple of idiots want?
-
That's not decisiveness, it's knee jerk stupidity. Presumably you'd have binned Moyes after the beating WBA gave them last week? Ancelotti after sunderland? Fergie after West Ham? New rule - every defeat brings a new boss (even if half your team is injured/banned). It'll be like pool in the pub. Those are all proven PL managers who've had massive success at this level. What an insane bunch of comparisons.
-
Premature, harsh, etc. If there's anything at all positive to take out of this, it's the decisiveness shown. The first crack appeared against Bolton, and it widened significantly yesterday.
-
Good god almighty. Too soon.
-
Yeah, great reasons. He's nearly 31 would have been more to the point. Why should we doubt a player who managed 2 assists and 13 league goals (3 of them penalties) in The Championship?
