  1. I hope you mean Corbett, HTT.
  2. No, I haven't. Does his book offer an excuse for beating his wife and kids for years and also explains why it isn't remotely his fault for the drinking? Honestly, man, do one. You want to hero worship a lowlife like that because he was born in the same postcode area and call other people names for suggesting a modicum of blame might actually rest with him.
  3. That's really cute, HTT, but it isn't really a case of having a heart or not. It comes down whether you believe that an addiction implies a person can be absolved of all blame for their actions. As for the sympathy aspect. If I knew nothing about Gazza - just another bloke shortening his life and severing relationships because he's compelled to get wasted - yeah, he'd have my sympathy, sure. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to feel any degree for sympathy for someone who's had his opportunities and done what he's done.

Baines just isn't an international footballer. He's a long way off that standard.
  5. He owns/runs a farm shop just round the corner from Carlos Tevez's old gaff in Prestbury.
  6. Ian if you can't or won't acknowledge the difference between deciding 'to be amazing no matter what' and taking (at least partial) responsibility for one's actions there's nowt to say, really.
  7. TM, I might be whatever but I also don't say anything on here I wouldn't say in person. We both know you wouldn't, so just give it a rest, yeah. Not interested in your resentment. KI, I've had addictions, sure. The first step to being decent is to take responsibility for your actions and how they affect those around you. Obviously that goes against this 'no fault' utter bollocks. Of course it's partially the alcoholic's fault for taking a drink - especially when they've access to the best of the best in professional help. I understand it's far more difficult for some to stop than others, and those who make the effort have my full respect. Gazza's just a coward, a lowlife wife-beating scumbag who doesn't really deserve this amount of discussion.
  8. No fault of his own imo.
  9. Anyone fancy laying odds that he'll appear in the away end at some point, complete with limp and oddly-coloured bomber jacket?
  10. Totally different football over there, you've really got to go into something like that with an open mind and Moyes/Neville, while obviously being very competent people - one's a top manager and one could be at some point - are pretty headstrong/arrogant. Be interesting to see what Neville will do when he manages over here, if that's what he wants.
  11. Don't take this personally, but you're everything that's wrong with the world. Yeah, demonstrating belief in one's ability to control and suppress destructive urges is everything that's wrong, Ian.
  12. No fault of his own ffs. Christ.
  13. His body quite clearly isn't up to the demands of a professional athlete, like. It's about an injury every 15 games - and he's a keeper.
  14. He'd be fairly exceptional in the Kevin Whately role in Inspector Morse, like. Just stand in the background making working class suggestions.

    What a lovely worked goal.
  16. To folk who don't understand goalkeeping, sure. He been OK, at best. That's a more than fair appraisal. And us folk who don't understand goalkeeping are perhaps concerned that the potential replacement may be a bit less than "ok". Completely get that, I am too.

  18. Cuba knows the Dr. Phillips area really well so you should PM him. That's closer to you.

I wouldn't take him to the Euros, like. Never been much of a fan.
  20. Why does this crap get said so often on here? He's been OK, at best.
  21. http://www.orlandogeorgeanddragon.com/ It's about a 15 minute drive from you.
  22. We only needed 9 points from the second half of the season to stay up, like.

One thing I'll say about Rooney, it's so obvious when he's repeating something he's been told to say.

Wanting your country to lose to another because of one player seems a tad weird, like.
