Yeah it’s just daft now. Something said in the Southampton game earlier about them being easy to cheer for in their bid to stay up because they’re going to try to do it using entertaining football. A) They’ve scored 1 goal in 4 games. B) If they’re at any point prioritising entertaining football when they will literally need every point they can get, they deserve to go down anyway.

He never was his replacement. I don’t want us to replace Schar though, to be fair. Strong backup for both him and Botman and a RW were the must haves.

Really not sold on Guehi at all. I’ve never looked at him and thought top CB and he’s been partially at fault for a few this season.

Based on what I’ve seen this season and a few games last season they’re one of the worst to play in the PL. Where it matters they’re of pure Championship quality.

In his first 2 seasons I’m sure they scored the same amount. Henry and RVN. Either way, Cole was literally not better at anything.

They were up against an elite Arsenal and elite Chelsea under JM.

How was RVN more limited than Cole? What was Cole better at?

RvN went past people for PSV and United mind. Not often, but that wasn’t how he was most effective. He’s about as good as I’ve seen at the one touch and then finish.

He left 4 years before that game, so quite possibly.

That and he was simply not physically imposing enough to defend the same way he had in France. He had some good games for us too, to be fair to him.

Agree on Smith - nobody comes close in fact. Worst performance I’ve seen is a tough one. Although Smith against Blackpool (0-2) is one and there was a game in the Championship under Rafa where Vernon Anita’s only contribution in an entire half of football was 9 instances of giving the ball away. Suppose it only really stands out if it gets punished a la Cacapa in that Pompey game. Newcastle 0-6 Liverpool is a team collective that stands out a mile. I won’t forgive certain hero worshiped players who were gutless in that game.
