  1. He's had good games and bad games at CB. Either way he isn't the answer and never will be till we get him partnered with a proper leader and dominant CB.
  2. I'm all for respecting the poor lot who lost their lives and their families, but enough's enough already.
  3. Not sure what you're getting at with that, like. Nobody is advocating a 'welcome back' for anyone.
  4. In the summer of 2000 - a year before Robert and Bellamy - we signed Bassedas for £4m and Cort for £7m+. Those are the ones that come to mind.
  5. Shepherd was shit because he gave his son a job. The barrel is being scraped.
  6. Another fucking sovereign state making it impossible to replace Shola Ameobi? I guess we're aiming for 11th next season.
  7. He was backed, in other words. You're arguing against yourself here, man.
  8. Ashley already owned over 40% of the club before offering to buy Shepherd's 30%. Shepherd didn't have a leg to stand on.
  9. Pardew's fundamentally a coward, man. Any significant threat to his reputation or safety and he'll back down Surrey scrubbing windows till his next con.
  10. Everyone sucks up to their boss man He wasn't his boss in 2006, when he again praised Shepherd's backing of him in his book.
  11. We are only lumbered with Ashley now because Shepherd sold out to the tune of £40m. Like he had a choice.
  12. We spent £4m on the likes of Bassedas alone. Over the first 4 years of his tenure he was backed very well. By the way: "he's a miracle man, the chairman." - Sir Bobby Robson, 2003.
  13. Horrific for the club. Please.
  14. He will if we make it happen. I'd take Pedro in a second, by the way. Not that I think he's manager material, but he's preferable to this prick.
  15. Nobody saying Shepherd was or is the answer, by the way. But for NUFC he was streets ahead of what we're lumbered with now.
  16. I'll let someone else dig up the figures, but we made plenty of expensive signings from 2000-2003 on Bobby's recommendations. He was well backed in the transfer market.
  17. you can't just say with the exception of one summer and try to brush it under the carpet because that summer lead to us not getting into the CL and we haven't been back since. It was basically the beginning of the decline that eventually lead to relegation so no it can't and should not be ignored. Which is why I acknowledged it. We were an ambitious club that made bad decisions but always in the name of attempting to bring success and competing with the best. Totally different animal to the rubbish occupying SJP now.
  18. Bobby generated a load of cash by taking us to the champions league. Cash that was primarily spent before we were even close to qualifying for it. Shepherd deserves a lot of criticism, but he wanted to make the club successful and walked the walk. Give me that over '1 or 2 signings per season' any day of the week.
  19. Robson got him most of those. He is the sole reason for our success under him. Dalgleish's was lucky with inheriting a great team before royally fucking it up. Bobby was backed very well with transfer funds with the exception of one summer. We showed a lot of ambition back then.
  20. So out of his depth that we finished 2nd, 4th, 3rd and 5th with him in the seat. Then again, the balance sheet was shit viewing.

    Shola Ameobi

Grounded. That's why Shola attacks the ball in the air likes he's Dennis Wise barefoot.
  22. I remember hearing about Shepherd getting in Dumas' face in his office and telling him he wasn't getting another penny out of the club. Wonder how many of the current lot he'd be saying that to.
