Very classy defender who needed a lot of protection because of his blatant physical limitations. He rarely got that here. 3 very good seasons, including in the Championship where he was so many steps ahead of the shit he faced it was embarrassing. Unfortunately he was so slow and unfortunately uninterested by the end he descended to a glaring liability. Shame it concluded like that.

There’s nothing to base this on. He overachieved hugely with us and he can’t be remotely judged with any degree of accuracy on what’s happened since.

He’s no DoF. His huge strength is organising a team of players to play better than the sum of their parts but improving them individually and exercising control of them to the point football is condensed to a game of mistakes where his players make the least. That’s how he wins matches.

As others have alluded to, they finished 10th last season with the best manager of my lifetime. There’s obviously deep-rooted problems at Everton. Was a massive wrong fit from the start, notwithstanding their brilliant league position in early autumn.

Crazy post. We got 12 points from our last 6 games under Rafa when we went down. He made a huge impact. It just wasn’t enough to undo McClaren’s tidal wave of damage.

I still think he’s the perfect appointment to change the whole trajectory of the club.

I always liked him. Was stupidly good in the Championship and never forced any of the usual mawkish crap to try and win favour with the fans. He just got his head down and did his best. Lives next to my mum and dad in Medburn. Really nice lad apparently and should leave here with nothing but good wishes.

If Howe continues playing Ritchie I’m really going to start losing all faith in him. There’s literally no excuse for it whatsoever.

Good post, but I do think it’s not as simple as who has the mentality and who hasn’t. We’ve got a lot of players on our books who do give it their all but are unfortunately just fucking abject.

I haven’t liked his team selections since he came in, must admit. I’m happy to defer judgment till we’ve made a few signings this window.

Darlow was a disgrace last season and Dubravka did improve us when he came back in. Not saying he’s particularly good.

Nonsense. Darlow has all the same weaknesses and none of the strengths.
