no reason it shouldn't be cabaye and anita. Cabaye and Anita are too naturally static and diminutive for the role. Both are diminutive, but neither are static in any way, shape or form. I don't know which games you are watching. They may cover a lot of ground going backwards or sideways but they don't make the penetrating runs when we got the ball that you want from a box-to-box player. Square pegs in round holes. I'd much rather just play a genuine player for that role alongside Cabaye and Anita/Marveaux.

Or a midfielder that couldn't get into the first team in the Dutch league, had one very good season with us and has since hovered between being average and a liability? Not rocket science, like. I can find plenty of posts where I've said that Tiote isn't the right player for this team before this season, for the record. Same with Jonas.
-
To be fair we don't have many young players on the fringe of the first team squad; they're all getting games now.
-
Cabaye and Anita are far from ideal for such a formation, or I'd be in favour. Plus, Marveaux is too good through the middle to be put out there.
-
If we're actually trying to get him I'll be pleasantly surprised.

he's not going to be a massive change on the defensive side (apart from the oppo being more wary of him getting the ball) I think its this attitude that full backs have to be stoppers first and foremost is what has been our downfall for some time now. In any wide position its essential for a player to be skillful and creative. Whether he can then go and kick lumps off the opposition winger comes secondary to me. If we'd have set up from the off this season with 3 centre backs and Santon & Fergie as wing backs, our league position would be much healthier right now. Its a back 3 that provides good defensive cover at all times. A system we never seem to want to play! definitly, full backs are the new goalkeepers in that they are so important but don't get the recognition, financially and tactically. Been saying that for a while, ridiculous how teams ignore how important they are. It's no coincidence that the best teams have f*cking quality attacking fullbacks. The best teams have quality everything.

As useless as Ranger is I'd have started him every single time ahead of the cunt up front.
-
Agree. Except for the 2nd bit. If they can still sign people like Debuchy despite the league position and ridiculous tightfistedness they can get a better manager too. No self-respecting manager will come anywhere near this lot, man. That's why Harry turned us down and Keegan sacked off. Those that followed were at the bottom of the pile or not even managers at all.
-
Everything's wrong, man. From the ownership down to the rubbish on the subs bench. I'm just supremely p*ssed off that I didn't take the 5th place finish with the pinch of salt it deserved. We're always going backwards while the club is owned by Ashley - and with that, managed by Pardew and employing talentless c***s like Shola Ameobi. Unfortunately, Pardew's as good as we can do under this lot.
-
Why hasn't he been interviewed on Sky?
-
This. I'm amazed there's such a strong opposing view on here.

If we don't bring at least 3 players in this month we're in big bother, and will deserve every ounce of it.

Most of that lot wouldn't be getting PL football without our stupidity, don't feel sorry for them. Mate, if you can defend the t*** who plays Cisse on the wing up against Baines and Piienar, I think I'm entitled to give a bunch of players some credit for giving it their all despite not having any direction whatsoever. You having a laugh? I've laid into Pardew time and time again for not playing Cisse as a central striker. Then why blast the players who clearly ran their hearts out despite being sent out like lambs to the slaughter with cock-eyed line ups and s*** substitutions? Who've I blasted? I've said that most of them on the pitch at the end of the game aren't up to it at this level, and there's nothing in their records to suggest otherwise, either. Tiote gets blasted because he's a utter fucking idiot in addition to being a poor footballer.
-
Ferguson tried to buy him last summer, you know. Man U need a box-to-box player like him.

Tiote's actually has more bad games than good at this club and has got away with it for far too long because he tends to do well in the televised games against the big teams. I'd sell him in a second.
-
I was hoping he'd go, check into the wrong hotel and never be seen again.
-
He was covering for the invisible 'Perchino'.
-
Honestly, man.
-
I don't want him out yet, but I must say I'm amazed the crowd haven't turned on him yet.

His defending was atrocious for their winner. Yep, just seen it again.
-
How did he cost us the game? If he'd squared it for Cisse they'd have just scored again and won 3-2.
-
Just a collection of shit little players everywhere, man. Pardew should be ashamed of this rubbish tonight but the sad fact is we've ended this game with 3-4 players who've proved themselves at PL level.
-
If that's your criteria then it's Colo then. Except Colo's a good footballer who does a job even when below his usual standards. Yet he has cost us more goals than Tiote has recently. Comes down to individual definitions but I count 4 mistakes from Tiote leading to goals in the last 4 days alone.
