when we played west ham at home on the first game of the 02-03 season and beat them 4-0, viana was absolutely class. remember talking to hammers fans after and they reckoned he was going to be a superstar...............shame.
-
he'll be on his mobile to players, agents and freddy non-stop while he gets a nice tan for the new season. nee worries man.
-
i am hopeful that this deal will lessen the chances of our owen going.
-
yeah it's not wise but i'm sure he wasn't being exactly serious when saying he'd carry a player back for an 8million quid loss. regarding allardyce? a majour coup imo.
-
definitely yes. would like him over the two other candidates personally.
-
personally, i would definitely play wingers, and get some sevice in for shola via crosses and he could also win the knockdowns for mickey. unleashing martins with half an hour to go could also be a decent weapon in itself!

i thought Dyer was good when he came on. a 3 is a joke! Crap paper anyway

i agree with you for once! however, i am not happy with sitting in a mediocre position under a mediocre manager. i think replacemaent managers is totally relevant. we can't afford to slip further away from the top four - a certainty under the current manager.
-
just out of curiosity? what do you want regarding the managers position? under roeder, we will go anywhere but forwards and there is no suitable and available candidate which springs to mind. hence, shearer popped into my mind. what do you propose?
-
with that sort of money? fantasy as it is, i'd demand champions league as a bare minimum. but he wouldn't be getting that sort of money so why say it? however, i do believe that shearer would get us into the top 6
-
in my opinion, i think keane has unfortunately done a fantastic job, considering he took over a team which was completely down and out and has revived them impressively. the division maybe significantly weaker, but sunderland's first team is also considerably weaker than ours. now if keane can motivate a team to the promotion places in that period, i have no doubt that shearer could do a similar job for us. roeder does nothing to inspire anyone. shearer would. he ias an iconic legend who would most certainly have the respect of the players and being an ex-captain, would be a good motivator. he would be ideal in the transfer market for bringing in players due to his record, and would especially attract younger strikers who would look up to him. shearer has worked under some top, top coaches, so his knowledge of tactics and man-management would also be creditable. i understand the doubts people may have and can point to examples, but i also look at what has happened to sunderland, and even people such as van basten who is managing the dutch team. i see no reason why shearer could not do a good job here. i am not saying sack roeder now, shearer in. what i would like is see how roeder does next season, and perhaps have shearer behind the scenes to groom him into a better role in the future. just me opinion like.
-
but with his resources in that league, he has done very well considering. put shearer in our position with more money and better players. could he do a job? that's what am getting at.
-
just the way i look at it, the scum have appointed keane and in all honesty i was relishing their demise. however, they have rocketed up the fizzy pop league which by all accounts is a hard league to get out of. now, if keane has the mental toughness to do it, surely shearer is just as capable?
-
i think we can all agree that the title is inevitable at some point in the future, but perhaps the sooner the better it would benefit us? last season, if i am correct, it was shearer who was appointed as no.2 to roeder and the run of results was nothing short of champions league form following this. of course, sir al has since left and this season hasn't exactly been great, prompting me to wonder whether he had a bigger influence tactically than previously thought? this season, i have seen no evidence of game plans, tactics or just about anything on the pitch for that matter. contrast to the end of last season where we were attacking and scoring plenty goals. so, whether this has been plain coincidence or not, i hadn't contemplated the possibility that shearer was such a major factor behind the scenes. as a manager, he would get respect from all players, has an excellent understanding of the game and the club and is never outspoken! furthermore, if roeder were to get the boot, would you be hesitant to hoy shearer in or would you prefer a more experienced bloke?

play him at CB. if he is the next beckenbauer we're laughing.
-
perhaps emre back in the midfield will see duff's performances improve? however, very impressed with him last neet. keep it up duffer lad
