  1. Class that Howe sought his advice.
  2. Okay, if you say so I reckon if people are willing to be jailed or throw away careers for their beliefs, there may be the odd player out there who might choose Spurs over Newcastle given the straight choice and the misgivings they might have about coming here (or damage their brand if they’ve got a certain kind of reputation). “¯\_(ツ)_/¯“
  3. I actually think there's some chance the shirt could be an issue for the odd player. If a player has any moral misgivings about coming to us (I doubt there are many, but there must be some) they might be willing to hold their nose up to the point of wearing a shirt with this implied meaning.
  4. I don't really think the hypocrisy charge is what people think it is. You have to be a hypocrite to deal with any of this shit, everyone is one at some angle - if you don't give a shit you're a hypocrite in other ways [unless you don't give a shit about anything, which is hardly an admirable position in itself]. The way I'm able to deal with still supporting Newcastle with our current ownership is separating my beloved club from who owns it (similar in some ways to how I did with Ashley) - I'm supporting Newcastle United, the badge, the colours, the club - not Mike Ashley, not Saudi Arabia. The reason the shirt's horrible to me is because it is an attempt to blur those lines - the colours are clearly meant to hark to the Saudi flag.
  5. Is there a shitter chant than Spurs’ slow dour ‘when the Spurs go marching in’
  6. Away colours to represent our ownership is grim like.
  7. Not sure the reference, I could also barely give less of a shit about Real Madrid (they play good football but fail to win?)
  8. Apart from against Liverpool or CL knock-outs, I'd pretty much watch any game before I'd watch Man City. Totally boring to me, I like good football in a good match, but good football that dominates holds no interest for me.
  9. I'd rather have Castore than a carbon copy Puma/Nike/Adidas shirt. At least not that many have Castore, and going off this season the quality is decent.
  10. No strong feelings, looks decent enough. No stupid gimmicks.
  11. Format looks shit, but more happy they got rid of those nonsense 2 allocated places, and happy with how they're now allocating them.
  12. Yeah, I always think about that game when I think about how quickly expectations will change. I was ashamed of our fans that day. There's a certain inevitability to it but hopefully can at least limit it, Wor Flags and that might help. As Wolfcastle says though, think drop off in atmosphere post 94 is also down to being that when grounds became all seater etc.
  13. In the Bobby days there was a guy in front of me who absolutely despised Robert. Would go at him all game, was really fucking annoying, don't know what pleasure he got from going to the match. Can't imagine what he was like when we went back to being shit (think he quit when we came 5th under Bobby).
  14. If Pickford was good enough I'd be happy to have him, it's kind of cute when a player goes from getting dog's abuse to playing for you - and it'd be funny to see the mackems. I don't watch him that much but he doesn't seem great - but then maybe I just see him when he's being talked about for a mistake, or v us when his head's gone.
  15. Santiago scored again. Is he any good?
  16. Again with this stuff, I just think we clearly have a competent staff now - a competent staff that spend their whole working days thinking about and analysing these things, seeing Dummet when we don't. I think there's a better chance they're going to make a good decision than me or anyone here. Instinctively I'm pretty neutral about it. He's obviously not great and is injury prone, but he's alright. Don't really give a shit apart from it's nice to have him as a geordie (and I've played against him so I like having him there as a claim to fame when I meet toon fans over here).
  17. Fuck sake aye, we struggle for quality players for years then Robertson and Tierney come along at the same time. Now Targett too - I never knew he could play for Scotland.
  18. I was 5 when he left too and remember it - but that probably says something about the level of adulation he had in the city. I can remember walking to school the day after he left and saying it was a disgrace (or words that effect) - like it was a major 9/11-style news event. It's probably the earliest football memory I can put a date on.
  19. Feel like it's a shame he doesn't associate with us more given he played his best for us and played a crucial role at a crucial time. Very much seems a ManU man. Understand why he is primarily so but think he could have a bit more of a connection.
  20. Matty Longstaff just scored.
  21. The Man City atmosphere sounds exceptionally shit on the radio - does it sound like that on the telly?
  22. I'd like Everton to go down cos it'd be funny and Lampard's a prick, but I wouldn't want them gone for long. Also don't think there's anything wrong with their fans, it's just loud dickheads and we've plenty of them.
  23. This all can't be hurting building a fanbase in Brazil.
