  1. Im not sure brummie uses a gym mate.
  2. I don't understand can be so violently averse to Bent. I rather not sign him personally, but he's always been a decent player. well he played for the mackems for a start next he's proven throughout his career he can only play as a loan striker, seeing as we've already got a better, younger version why would we bother? maybe those 2 things Maybe we should just loan him then
  3. He was nowhere near the level of the other players, but he still scored goals in Brazil. He wasn't AWFUL, he just wasn't as good maybe as the rest. But yeah Careca was a very good player. He was in that World Cup, believe me. And yet he kept being selected, much as France did with Guivarch in 98, except Guivarch's performances were 20 times better than Serginho's. The Justin Fashanu comparison really wasn't a joke.

Im sure there is a stereotypical Italian gag there somewhere.
  5. If Brazil had've had Careca in 82, they'd have pissed that WC. Sorry but Serginho was absolutely awful,,reminded me of a poor man's Justin Fashanu.
  6. That's not necessarily true not all clubs will strength significantly. I bet most do, they'll have to or get left behind. Especially with the enhanced TV dosh. We saw Norwich, for example splash out on Van Wolfswinkel.
  7. I do understand in my current state of sobriety how lame it reads, but in the state at that time, of a gallon of Stella down one's gullet, a far more humourous picture was seen.
  8. I remember pretending to be him during one of those American pre season friendlies we had, on the Chronicle stream...just piffling out some right hoop juice preceded by the words "my sources say" ...the replies of shut up Colin were a sight to behold.
  9. Depends on how quickly Pellegrini can adapt to the Premier League, Mou already has the experience so he has the edge. But Mou's squad isn't as good as the Man City one... Course it is man. Why have they consistently finished below Mancini's City then?

  11. I like Mourinho as a personality, I'm not too enamoured about his preferred style of play but he evidently has excellent mental strength and confidence, 2 things a good manager needs. Last time he was here, he held all of the aces financially and so this time, I don't think he will do as well trophy wise as now Manchester City hold the clout financially and will in my opinion, with a half decent manager, which Pellegrini obviously is, win the Premiership at a canter, unless they don't gel quickly enough. So I see the Chelsea fans having their Jose love- in curtailed somewhat, however I'm glad he's back in England.
  12. I agree with most of that, indeed hats off to the club for making it easier for folk to go in these financially testing times. However they could give fans more reason to go by putting a product on the pitch that folk would gladly pay to see. Of course that would mean sacking the current manager and getting someone better and more expensive in.
  13. Really sums up how I feel too. Thanks bowlingcrofty for sharing.

That's far too simplistic, nobody lends £1 out to get £1 back for a start. The economy is far too complex for us to discuss it properly on here anyway. It's a head bursting topic really as money has to constantly move to keep the economy going and governments have to constantly print additional money. They would have to do that anyway just to stand still as the population grows. So close, yet so far away from understanding. It's not the governments constantly printing additional money, it's the banks! The only banks that can print money are the central banks of a country, who in turn lend this to the banks. Which is otherwise known as quantitative easing. Remember when there was a run on Northern Rock, it was because they asked the Bank of England for a short term loan, they couldn't fucking create money at off thin air as you believe they can. They can but it devalues all the current money in circulation causing inflation. Also it's worth noting that you point out Northern Rocks request for a short term loan. Did you know that they only requested it for just incase, they actually never needed it but the government forced them to take it once it was publicised that they had requested one. They never accessed the funds from that loan and were prepared to pay it back before it was due to be paid. They were then nationalised and then were given a 2nd loan without them requesting it or needing it. They were then sold on at a profit. At the time Barclays and other banks also requested a short term loan yet their details were never publicised like Northern Rocks were. Labour well and truly sold Northern rock out, insisting on them taking out loans that they didn't need and paying them back with interested and then the sell off (which was agreed in principle before Labour left office). Preposterous, even for you. What did you expect Alastair Darling to do? The only alternative to nationalising Northern Rock was to let it declare itself bankrupt.

Nice bit of brown shirt around the collar to pay homage to the German department.

I won't buy a shirt with their foul logo on. And I also think there must be more reputable companies that we could have on our shirts...
  17. Look at Wimbledon man! We had a game in hand over Liverpool and after thrashing Spurs 7-1 and Leeds 3-0 I'm sure we would have went close to the title again, especially if we strengthened in Jan. We had more losses than Man Utd at that point but our form was decent. We could've strengthened at any time in them days...I agree with your point by the way.
  18. The L column grows by the hour. It is almost Welsh Scrabble time.
  19. Not buying a real top quality goalkeeper was another.
  20. He was excellent yet not in Baresi's class. As Deuce said, Italy have produced some outstanding defenders. I go back as far as Facchetti ,Scirea and the monster who had the most ironic name ever, Claudio Gentile. All class but Baresi for me is the best.
  21. Yep, and as before all of our talent was sold off by the club, it was magic to see us bringing such talent back in....Sir John also deserves a great deal of praise and credit for this.
  22. Do you have hypothetical hindsight ? What a gift.
