Newcastle United vs Chelsea - Saturday December 3rd @ 12.45pm
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Kaizero's topic in Football
To get a result against Chelsea without Tiote and Jonas would be a great achievement. I'm a bit worried, but I was in the previous two games and we performed really well, so let's hope we get something. -
Yep, and think how much he received from and paid agents that he never declared. [/libel]

Do you really think we can expect to have 4 "quality" CBs? Not many teams have that, especially ones not in Europe.

Could it be that injuries don't actually work like that? It depends how he's feeling and recovering, surely? Never understand why people expect the club to be psychic about exactly which game a player will be back for. -
West Ham are mad lyk.
-
Hope he makes a full recovery, really like him and he's been unlucky to lose his place so comprehensively to Taylor. Great option IMO.
-
At least it was the reserve coach watching, a clue as to Brown's likely destination if we sign him.
-
I thought it was an incredible pun cleverly disguised as an error of understanding. Comedy genius.

Obviously players should pay their own agents from a percentage of their earnings, like actors etc. But we've allowed player power to get to a degree where they can ask for anything. They would just ask for more money if they had to pay their own agents I suppose. Also, clubs are guilty of using agents in dodgy ways as well. They have used them almost as scouts in the past, allowing them to present players to the clubs. If clubs genuinely stopped doing that the relationship with agents would be a lot clearer.

In all truthfulness, we have signed some marquee players in the last few windows. Even someone with only a basic knowledge of the Italian and French leagues will have heard of Cabaye, Marveaux, and Santon. They were hardly unknown quantities. Even the likes of Ba and Obertan were well-known and Ba was a high-quality performer in the world's most televised league. Only Elliot was a shining diamond hidden against dull, beaten stones. True, I was exaggerating. I hadn't heard of any of them except Ba and Obertan, but I don't watch French or Italian football.
-
To be fair, it might be worth paying money to agents if it allows us to pull off the bargain-basement signings we've been doing so far. It's still cheap compared to paying big transfer fees. The entire money we spent on agents fees would only buy us one of Jordan Henderson's legs.
-
Can't stand Martin O'Neill like, if he goes to Sunderland it will be a perfect storm of hatred.
-
It is a bit scary how much people spend on agents, but then the sums of money involved in football are mental in general. I'm guessing this will go down as we stop being taken for a mug by Willy McKay on a regular basis.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Sorry, not really worth getting into, but what i meant was that I'd don't get why you think they'd not expect his failure in particular - surely it's the other way around. From Llambias' comments I'd be surprised if the bullish Ashley felt the same about Carroll as those of us on the out side gnashing our teeth at his sale. I guess so, no idea really, what I was saying is that I don't think the sale was based on worries about his future form. It might have been a factor I suppose, but I think they would have sold him for £35m even if they knew for a fact that he would do really well for Liverpool. -
If I've heard of a player I just assume he's unrealistic TBH, I'm just waiting to see who Wor Graeme pulls out the bag in January.
-
Well this has officially moved from a discussion of a events to a discussion of people's posts about the events, which is when it's time to stop reading.
-
Yeah, agree as well. Let's not forget that "becoming a better person" for Joey mean stopping assaulting people and getting imprisoned. He isn't suddenly the authority on good behaviour because he's keeping himself out of prison.

Well Ashley and Llambias then, the club, the people in charge, NUFC, the decision makers, whatever you want to call them. -
Any idea why he doesn't get a chance for Spain, do they see him as not able to play their passing game? Or is it a mystery like the one where Gareth Barry gets picked for England?
-
I never think about him now TBH, we would be much better if we still had him though obviously.
-
Me too, but Llambias's response was actually pretty measured. He shouldn't have said anything though, obviously.
-
I really don't think that's what he's doing, that's incredibly harsh. I don't like him either, but that's going too far.
