Aye, this is basically my view. He's clearly not the finished article and doesn't always look always look assured, but hopefully next season he will be more experienced and stronger again.

I think Bridge is a very decent player, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

I just wish I knew what's stopping Shola being actually a good player... it's a mystery we'll all take with us to our graves.

I wouldn't buy a goalkeeper - I know Krul doesn't look quite ready but he'll get there soon, and we have Forster.

I wouldn't want Shearer anywhere near NUFC until he's actually done something good in management at a decent level. As Tina Turner said, "We don't need another hero".

Thought his performance dropped off in the second half TBH, I didn't enjoy him dropping into midfield so much. But I guess it was necessary when we brought on the youngsters, prepared to admit I might have misjudged it.

Same, will be disappointing if Blackpool go and those two survive.

I thought the floodgates were about to open after the first goal TBH, I had thought that before the start as well mind. When they scored their second I was gutted because it was clear that we deserved something from the game. Very pleased with how we performed generally, especially considering the players we were missing. It was hilarious when they brought Drogba, Essien and Malouda on and we had Sameobi, Lua Lua and Ranger waiting on the bench!

I posted on facebook about him coming on and I spelled his name "sami"... am I racist? Either way, he did well and looks a lot more lively and mobile than Shola. Nice to see him get some time, should give him a boost for pre-season.

True, it's easy to think that he was forced into using the kids, which he was to an extent, but he could have found other ways to avoid playing Fergie et al.

I fear for West Ham like... they will lose all the decent players and might not have the 'group of lads' that we had to band together and get them back up.

If N'Zogbia had any problem, it was justified IMO. The blame lies with the club for mismanaging his career more than the player himself.

Totally agree we have the core of a good side, fingers crossed we can add the right players in the summer. If we could hold onto Enrique it would be a major boost as well.

Agree with that. At the time they were on about sacking him they were in truly awful form. They've done well to get this close IMO. Doesn't that demonstrate that he should have been sacked though? They were in awful form, they kept him, they got relegated. (Obviously it's actually impossible to know)

I just think it was clear he wasn't going to turn it around, that's all. A new manager might have given them a boost and motivated the players enough to survive. Having faith in the manager is admirable, but only if he's the right man for the job.

Too likeable a bloke to be associated with that shower of shite club. But Ihe's not actually that good a manager that I thought he was at Chelsea, and it doesn't surprise me to see him relegate another club, even if the first one was the epitome of uphill battles. Can't imagine he's that inspiring like, seems to be an expert in failing gracefully. If he was in charge of my club I would be worried about how he would motivate the players.

Might have survived if they'd replaced him at Christmas IMO... bizarre decision by the owners.
