  1. The Adebayor song is choice, both about his mother and father... heard that at SJP for the City game, disgusting TBH.
  2. So many of our players are class people now, it's mint.
  3. FWIW, we obviously won't be buying anyone like Agbonlahor, doesn't fit our current transfer policy at all.
  4. Good to see Xisco playing for the reserves, at least he's getting some football. Sounds like Ferguson has been good as well.
  5. Straight like a banana!
  6. Gyan has hit some form, but I don't think he's that consistent. They'll struggle with just him and Campbell, and I doubt they can attract anyone better than Bent. Guess they'll just be looking for a cheap-ish backup striker and spend the rest on midfield and defence.
  7. Definitely, very good player and would add tonnes of pace.
  8. They do look better with one up front, and as such they'll always struggle to keep Bent and Gyan happy. Might be an OK sale if they use the money well on the rest of the squad.
  9. Wellbeck is underrated IMO, still surprised to see them selling Bent right now. Still, better not laugh too much or they'll quote this thread when Carroll goes to Spurs!
  10. Isn't it just Everton's lack of forwards that is holding them back? There's only so many games Tim Cahill can head the winner in.
  11. I rate Bent and Gyan TBF, either of them would improve us probably.
  12. I don't think Barton was even a 'replacement' for Parker really, they're very different players. If we had Parker and Tiote in midfield we would be top of the league right now!
  13. Yep. It seems a little hypocritical to me that Allardyce's style is (rightfully) despised on here, yet Jonas is pretty much adored. He's a functional player, there to win free kicks and waste time. That's the most random comparison I've heard in a while. Allardyce was boring and turgid, Jonas is dynamic and exciting... they're about as far apart as it's possible to get.
  14. There's the "No no, no no no no, no no Kevin Nolan" one to the tune of 2 Unlimited (I think it's them anyway!)
  15. I don't think we should be buying with a view to European qualification right now, but I totally agree we're now in a position where we should be looking at what we need to get us to the next level. I really don't think the club is considering selling any of our best assets. With the right additions in the summer we could be right back up competing for Europe next season. A bit more depth in the squad, and a couple more goal threats, and we're looking a very decent premier league team again.
  16. Nolan would be immense in that first formation BTW, no responsibilities in defence or attack! Free to just pop up for back-heels and knock-downs from Carroll.
  17. I wouldn't think it matters which of those we actually play on paper, they'll operate pretty much the same. All I would try would be Jonas on the right, maybe.
  18. Every time the score was reported on the radio yesterday, I was thinking "nah, we hammered them"... as if the radio should have to explain the full context every time!
  19. I'm pretty sure Garth Crooks has almost nothing to do with picking that team. It's probably someone from the BBC website team.
  20. Well the truth is that most of the money would go to servicing our general running costs and debts, and possibly a small amount would be used on players. Whether or not that's acceptable I don't know, I'm just sticking to the line that he's not for sale at any price. We shouldn't even be listening to offers, it might get too tempting!
  21. Definitely not safe, but I like the little gap that's opening up below us. Could easily get dragged back in with playing Arsenal and Spurs, but we've showed enough to suggest that we won't go down. Not 'safe' yet, but getting there.
  22. At least there's two of them.
  23. When he worked in Tesco in '89.
