  1. TBH, if I was a class player like Torres I would also be unwilling to accept criticism from a clogger like Jamie Carragher. The thing I hate most in football is taking stick from my own teammates. FFS, I know I'm playing shit!

Also, they had kind of started to heal the wounds with the fans, then they go and shoot themselves in the foot again. It's just a silly move IMO, as a proof of concept it's only proved that no company in their right minds would want to sponsor the ground. We heard to dog's abuse Sports Direct was getting from the fans yesterday.... if anything they're harming their brand.
  3. TBH, he should leave the country for his own good. Can't see him wanting to learn Spanish or Italian, but suppose he might.
  4. Hodgson will be on his bike in the next couple of weeks IMO, as soon as the new owners have assessed the situation.
  5. The way Yakubu flattened that guy was class. That's the kind of robust play we want to see.
  6. It's difficult for forward to be swapped in and out of the team anyway... we won't see an improvement from any 442 unless we stick with the same two for at least 5 games IMO. I don't think we should be writing off Loverkrands, although he has looked poor so far.
  7. Or has been told not to comment on transfer rumours.
  8. I tend to agree Mick, sadly the alternative is 451 with Nolan, who is even more useless.
  9. Just out of interest... how many decisions a game do people think it's possible for a human being to get right? Assuming it's less than 100%, as the game is so fast and some things are open to debate, would be interesting to know how many of the supposed millions of mistakes that refs make are actually acceptable. Also, how much blame goes to managers for constantly pressurising officials, and to players for constantly trying to con them?
  10. Thought he was rank in the first half, better in the second. Unfortunately Barton seemed to do the opposite.
  11. Fair play to him for leavin out Nolan, not sure if he was injured or what. Hopefully he now knows that Guthrie is a CM or nothing, and that it's time to give Taylor a go at right back. I would have made the subs at half time yesterday personally, thought we were asking for trouble to send out the same team. They pulled it off though, so I suppose it worked.
  12. If we had two good forwards that were good enough, I'd say definitely yes. As it is, I'd say probably yes. But it has to be Carroll and Shola, no other two can do it in this league.
  13. The fans do well to turn up in such numbers, no doubt, but they deserve criticism for the way they turned on their own team so quickly yesterday. I was embarrassed to be amongst it TBH, we really need to get behind the team when things aren't going well.
  14. I don't think he was entirely to blame today, playing a CM in front of him was asking for trouble. Guthrie offered him no help going forward or back. He is a bad player though, at least he looms it in the Prem so far. I would personally give Taylor ango for the moment, then ultimately make S Taylor our first choice RB.
  15. Firstly, this just reminded me why I prefer away games. TBH I was embarrassed to be a Newcastle fan at times. Yes, we fucked up for the goal, and then Zog hot a screamer after to rub salt, but the way we get on the backs of our own players was horrible to be part of. Wigan didn't bring many, but they didn't need to - we were playing the role of away fans for them. On the pitch, awful. Perch was bad, but to be fair to him he was exposed as fuck with Guthrie playing in front of him. He just tucks in and allows the opposing wide men to abuse his fullback. Don't understand why he was picked TBH, it was premature to drop Routledge. Loven, Carroll and Tiote were also terrible. Getting ball to Jonas then waiting to see what he does isn't a game plan that's going to win many games. He was drawing the defenders across and creating space on the right, but obviously Guthrie had wandered inside and Perch isn't capable of attacking. Just shows we need to stick with Jonas and Routledge... they aren't world beaters but we don't have any over options.

Does every thread have to be - ask a question, get some opinions, criticise those people for having an opinion? I'm happy to admit I had a reaction when I heard the plans for these signs, and a worse one when I saw them painted on the roof of SJP. Yes, it isn't an outbreak of war or the downfall of a government, but in the context of football it's something that people are entitled to be annoyed about IMO.
  17. Yeah, Fulham are the club I can probably stand the most, but Hughes is much less likeable than Hodgson.
  18. They've got some cheek like. Take over a top football club, laden it with debt and run it down to the point where it needs to be sold immediately to avoid administration and likely relegation... then claim damages for yourself. Incredible.
  19. Anyone managed by Allardyce needs to go at the top of the list. With Redknapp a close second.
  20. The players can be as determined as they like, but if they can't win home games they are not good enough - determination is great but without the necessary skills it is useless. Cream always rises to the top.... Yeah, but that would be a criticism of the players... Hughton can only work the players he has.
  21. I wasn't aware the PL actually ever applied the fit and proper person test.
  22. They're introducing a late substitute though, don't count them out yet!

I think it's more likely to be a proof of concept for Ashley's mad scheme to sell ground sponsorship and naming rights. He's hoping that when companies see it in action, they will want in.
