I always come home to Newcastle on Bank Holidays, wish I wasn't this time!

Obviously there are no guarantees with an unproven manager, but nobody is suggesting there are. There aren't many alternatives at the moment, and Hughton has earned a fair chance. Look at how badly Stachan has done with Boro, it's not like walking back out of the Championship was guaranteed.

Good news that the club is looking to offload the likes of Butt and isn't going to just rely on 'Experienced Campaigners' next season.

Portsmouth FC in yet more trouble - administration again?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to GG's topic in Football
The list of creditors is terrifying TBH, good article here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/apr/21/portsmouth-report-creditors It's incredible how they have managed themselves into this crisis. To get away with repaying 25p in the pound seems a major let-off, could they go into liquidation still? -
Well his judgement of players is way off - to say Nolan and Simpson are safe bets next season while Routledge, Guthrie and Loven are doubts just shows he never watches our games. I would be totally against ousting Hughton for Hughes at this point as well.
-
They always do, they appeal to slightly different customers.

Is it? Freaking awesome! Should I wait until the end of the transfer window though? I'm definitely getting Jose Enrique on the back!
-
Jonas will surely leave? Doubt he hung around for a season in the Championship to leave as soon as we went back up. Nicky Butt is old? Aye, that's why he hasn't been playing any games. Expectations will be sky high? Do they just have that sentence ready to cut and paste into any article about Newcastle? We're all expecting European football, obviously.

I've never understood how any sportspeople take drugs, it's so against everything that sport is supposed to be about. I know money/winning is everything for some people, just hate the idea.

If Shola cycled through the town centre eating an apple, I'd definitely watch.

I would be amazed if we could sell Shola. In a good way. -
Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea
AyeDubbleYoo replied to clintdempsey's topic in Football
He's anything but one-dimensional, which is what I ignorantly thought before we signed him. He can go outside his man or cut in, he can see a pass and he has a decent shot as well. Good signing, fingers crossed for him next season. -

We should start Best for both of the remaining games... if he gets a couple of goals he might have a chance of not completely failing here. He does seem to be able to strike a ball. -
A Lesson in Respect and Sportsmanship From Plymouth Argyle
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Doug's topic in Football
I would go mental TBH, can't understand why they did it. If I was a Plymouth fan I would be fuming. -
I would say no, we should be recognising this for what it is, a solid step forward in the continuum of progress we require. Although if Hughton can keep the players' feet on the ground while we have a minor celebration, I suppose it would OK.

The RSPCA need to know about this stuff like.

A Lesson in Respect and Sportsmanship From Plymouth Argyle

Very impressed, I've always hated the 'your support...' song - it's pointless and usually wrong. -
Treason!!

Certainly agree about the last bit - the club committed suicide after a great start at OT where we deservedly got a point. The ridiculous obsession with Wise & Co, the double-dealing over the Milner affair which caused KK's walk-out and the subsequent fiasco would have caused many clubs to implode. The whole episode has set the club back for years and we face a tough struggle to establish the club back in the PL, let alone challenge for European places.. I think the decline had started long before that really, we were struggling to stay in the top half of the Premiership and we were overspending pretty massively to do it.

Plymouth Argyle v Newcastle United - Monday 19th April @ 7:45pm

It's absolutely mental that this game is on a Monday night like. Guess everyone already knows that though. -
Should Harper be our number 1 in the Premier League - Next Season
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Decky's topic in Football
Think it's too soon to be worrying about that though, Harper is gradually on the way out and Foster and Krul are still very young for goalkeepers. -
It's the Freddy Shepherd school of player aquisitions.

Should Harper be our number 1 in the Premier League - Next Season
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Decky's topic in Football
It was just a freak goal, nobody's to blame. And I don't think Harper was blaming anyone either, he was just shrugging his shoulders at how ridiculous it was. No harm done really, just one of those freak OGs you get now and again.
