Hall might not have even been fit to play, he was probably just there because we don’t have anyone fit who’s registered for the squad.
-
We should extend his contract if he’s willing to stay in his current role. He’s never been as bad as people thought and now he’s a genuinely capable PL defender. And CL I guess

Even if it had gone straight onto the arm, it shouldn’t have been a penalty.
-
But hitting his arm doesn’t automatically mean a pen, does it? He has to be doing something else like doing it deliberately or making himself bigger. I didn’t notice the touch off the body but I still thought it wasn’t a penalty.
-
I definitely think the whole concept of a penalty is wrong. Like I keep saying, a goal is too valuable in such a low scoring game. You can’t give goals away for free. Maybe a penalty could be reserved for deliberately preventing a goal scoring opportunity. And something more like a penalty corner for everything else. And keep handball for only the most obvious deliberate handballs.

No it's not, the point of a second yellow is that you have accumulated two offences which are the same severity, but which add up to a worse offence. Each one should be identical. To answer your questions, we care because we're mistakenly obsessed with the outcome and not the correct application of the rules. There should be no difference between the first and second yellows, unless there's something in the laws I don't know.

There's also no absolute standard for what is a yellow card and what isn't, is there? What could VAR use to decide?

People vastly underestimate the fixture list. The wheels will come off Man Utd before the end of the season for sure. -
There's no logic in using it for second yellows and not first yellows. Every yellow card should be the same, regardless of whether the person is already booked.

Quite a few clubs seem to have sold perfectly good keepers and spent loads on getting someone in who was basically no better. Guess clubs are struggling with the requirements for the modern GK and what they actually want. And what makes someone a good buy.

Not sure we even have the squad spaces for them.
