  1. Said it before, I'm embarrassed to support the toon sometimes. The media must be getting all moist at the material we've given them today, they might have to print an extra paper tomorrow for it all.
  2. I completely agree with this. I understand how people are carried away by their love for Keegan, I remember how amazing the first time was. But the way some people have turned against Ashley over this is disappointing. I still believe he has an excellent long-term strategy for this club, better than any owner we've had. Maybe we get the club we deserve sometimes, reacting like this?
  3. I think maybe Ashley underestimated KK's desire and ability to get involved with player recruitment in a detailed way. Since he wasn't around for KK the first time, he had maybe bought into the idea that he was mainly a motivator and not very good in the transfer market (he would have also been concerned by the financial state of the club when he bought it). I know a lot of the press and some fans were unsure about the same thing when KK arrived, would he be out of touch with modern football and the players that are available? With those facts in mind Ashley put in place a progressive recruitment policy that was alien to KK. This might well have led to KK being pissed off, and being who he is, this quickly escalated to walk-out point. Maybe we needed these discussions to get things calibrated slightly more in KK's favour.
  4. I love Keegan, but acting with dignity isn't one of his main features. Agree with what you say about the end result though, maybe the balance of power just needed to be adjusted a bit.
  5. However, i will praise the fans at the ground. Good to see them showing support to Keegan. Aye, but they took it far too far didn't they? Singing 'sack the board' when they hadn't the first idea what the situation was.
  6. It's not as simple as that though. Obviously I want more than anything for KK to be our manager, but I still think that Ashley and team Wise have done a good job with getting players. What this club lacked was a solid recruitment policy, Ashley has tried to rectify that, with good results so far.
  7. I wouldn't like it either. As I've said I think Wise et al have done a good job, the balance of power just needs to be shifted a bit back towards Keegan.
  8. I hope this doesn't result in the dismantling of the Wise/Jimenez team though, they've recruited some good players for reasonable fees. It sounds like it just needs to be tweaked a bit so that Keegan has more say.
  9. The way some respectable broadcasters have reported this today is nothing short of diabolical. The BBC in particular have been a disgrace, first going with 'Keegan and Newcastle Part Company', and now back-pedalling to 'Keegan Future Shrouded in Mystery' without any mention of what they have previously reported as fact. It is disgraceful, even if KK does turn out to have walked, they way they've reported it is shocking.
  10. I just hope it's a compromise that sees the current system kept in place but with a few tweaks that suit Keegan slightly better. I think it would be worth this flare-up if we are more secure going forward. We don't really know whether it was a 'row' at all to be honest, might just as easily been a constructive meeting.
  11. Say we do end up with a stronger Keegan, Ashley changing the structure a little bit and both sides compromising and getting things out in the open. I would say that leaves us in a much better position and more secure going forward. I.e. less likely to lose Keegan to another row later on. That would be a good result, if the press don't see it that way then fuck them quite frankly.
  12. If we lost Keegan over Warnock and Barton it would be both tragic and laughable... who honestly gives a fuck?
  13. Not at all, if anything it makes him stronger, if he can come out of a clash with the board with his job intact. If there even was a row, and not just discussions.
  14. I hate Oliver, but he definitely isn't to blame for this.
  15. I just want to see KK on TV saying he's not going anywhere. Saying that, I feel a lot better now than I did this afternoon.
  16. Fuck, today has been insane! Pleased to hear this, but would hate it to be followed up with news he has walked. Good move by Ashley as well, if KK does end up going it will look better for the club.
  17. I still think there would have been an announcement if anything was decided for sure. It might come tomorrow now, but I'm still grasping that shred of hope.

    Boycoutt?

Maybe there's a time in everyone's life when they start to fall out of love with their football club, and other things in life start to take over. This might be that time for me, I just don't know how long it will take me to feel the same about the toon again. Maybe I'll drift away a bit and become one of those people who just checks the results now and then :-[
  19. This is pretty close to my view, I can't see any circumstances under which Keegan would be sacked. As you say, if it was definite we would already have an announcement. I can't work out whether I'm being rational or I'm just in denial!
  20. I still think there's no way he has been sacked or asked to leave. If that was the case we would know by now, and it doesn't make any kind of sense. The only way he will be leaving is if he has walked of his own accord, and if he's threatening that let's hope the delay is because talks are ongoing.
  21. I agree, but isn't that what happened? I mean, Barton is still here.
