Don’t ever see the point in calling out players in public.

Ultimately premier league clubs (as opposed to fans) don’t really value the cups. As sad as it is, they see them as a nice-to-have rather than a must. They want to progress, but only if the cost is not too high. Sadly in that scenario we are currently very ill equipped to do well, because our overall squad depth is so poor.

Our side was championship and theirs was upper league one, not really as much between them as we think

I’ve never been convinced he really helped us to stay up, but it’s hard to prove either way. The club certainly believed we needed him, so that’s something in his favour. Or in favour of the decision to buy him, at least. It’s not really worth debating that again now, he’ll be gone soon.

I’ve said the same, we did alright and could easily have won. But just saying we have a lot of bad players who clearly have no future with us.

I assume he’ll just go for free when his contract ends.

I understood his signing because we were desperate and we needed someone with a release clause where their club couldn’t say no. Also we had to offer him 2 years because he wouldn’t have signed for just 1. But he’s a very poor player and starting him at the top level is awful. Can’t wait to get rid of him.

I wouldn’t write him off, but I don’t expect him to make it. A good loan would be interesting.

We know most of our squad players are awful, even some of our first team are a bit dodgy. You could easily argue that Sheffield had two strikers yesterday that are both better than Chris Wood. They way I see it is that out past cup ‘humiliations’ happened to a different club entirely. Those happened to a neglected club who didn’t care about winning anything. This one happened to a club on the up who just had their limited resources stretched too far by the amount of games we’re playing. Soon enough people like Lascelles, Murphy, Wood, Lewis and Anderson will be a distant memory.

Even our first team has players that are basically performing miracles compared to their on-paper ability. Howe has been outrageously good.

I’d be surprised if he ever plays regularly for Newcastle. Better players will just come in too quickly for him to have a chance.

I think Isak looks absolutely lethal.

I actually don’t even know what they consider when the total up the extra time. Is there a list of things the ref should include? Very very random if not. Taking 10 seconds extra to take throw (for example) just seems a normal thing to me, and therefore doesn’t count.

I think the coaching will be key here. Even if we sign a LB I don’t expect them to be given total free reign to go nuts and attack. Imagine it’ll be someone more in the Trippier mould. Rock hard but with a tasty left foot would be the profile.

Thats the one downside of the flags I guess, creates an atmosphere before kick off which then tails off. Thought it was quite loud over towards the corner though.

My only doubt is whether a Joelinton, Bruno, Willock midfield offers enough structure and solidity. If we’re happy with it then I would be bringing ASM in.

I think referees and players are both struggling a bit with this new directive to give less soft fouls. Overall I’m in favour. Think his cards were the main problem, allowed kicking the ball away, stopping attacks and all that without giving a yellow. The added time at the end seemed very short as well, but he was probably just keen to get off.

Sending him to Aberdeen was criminal.

Such a hard player to assess. Does a good job in some elements of the game but is ultimately too slow and not good enough to be a top player. I reckon replace him with a top midfielder and we could easily win 3-0 today. No hard feelings though, has a place in the squad and does the best job he can.
