The guy is class but sometimes I wish he’d just smash those 1v1 chances in.

Manchester United 0-2 Newcastle United (30/12/24)

Good time to get a HT reminder that we should be mercilessly killing them. -
What does DCL have to do with losing Isak?
-
Exactly, there’s absolutely no chance.

Collect all the English left wingers?

I’m not sure they’re capable of being well up for a game TBH. I imagine their manager and players know and care basically nothing about Newcastle. I get the fear like, there’s just no logical reason we shouldn’t be strong favourites. The players just have to stick to this new attitude to winnable games. If I was them I would play with all their fastest runners in wide positions and up front and just hope to nick the first goal on the counter. That’s their best hope I think, although it would be relying on some very out of form and unproven players.

Some refs give a yellow and then wait for VAR to tell them what to do. Not good refereeing but I think they do that to avoid the big decision.

I think he just slipped, yeah. Seemed genuinely mystified by the red card.

Nah, some refs bottle it by giving a yellow and then waiting to be asked by VAR if they need to change it. I think that’s the only other option from the straight red.

Just showed one of his ‘mistakes’ on MOTD and it was actually Murphy getting blocked off by a defender that meant the pass didn’t work. Not always easy to read that stuff live.

Leno is quietly a ridiculously consistent player. Seems like he’s been keeping in the PL every game for decades

Feel like we had the most impressive result today. Guess Fulham beating Chelsea is close.

Yeah, but even this way of thinking is missing the main point. The kid was incredibly rated and an amazing signing. Whether he comes into the team in month X or month X+5 makes very little difference. He’ll be class for us for years and always was going to be.

I don’t think it was always obvious that Tonali would play deepest. From what I understand of his career so far he’s been very much box-to-box. And even though people constantly complain about it, Bruno is also very good as the central player. It’s possible that some experimentation was needed to get it right.

Thought he was top today, looked confident and determined to use his unpredictability and intelligence. Great strike as well of course.

Quite impressive to be wrong on this many levels.

Thought it was going wide but only seen one replay.
