Is Spain's keeper top basically ours?

I am using a hypothetical example just to prove that IF we were to want another Everton player this summer taking into account how far in the shit Everton are I would want the club to low ball them. Certainly watching the amazon documentary we were told similar when we bid for Gordon they were asking much much more and we called their bluff. Although we weren't as cheeky documentary said they want 50 plus 10 so 60 we got him for 40 plus 5? Iam not saying Man U are doing this as I said if it's their first and final offer knowing full well what's been reported they wanted for him it's delusional but we too would want our club to sell high and buy for the least possible. Where that isn't possible don't haggle over a few million just to blow a deal if you want the player like the old regime and walk away. If it's an opening offer and Everton are in the shit and need to sell and no one else goes for him and that backs them into a corner they have completed a great deal. Unless 70m is an official release clause then it's just what they want or would like for him. Ultimately he is worth what the highest bidder is willing to pay for him so I expect 80m offer from chelsea in 3....2.....1.... The ashworth one is just strange however even that you think well, the relationship is now blown to pay his wages and keep him on leave or see him gone and wages off the books. The 2 or 3m offered is only rumour as well, isn't it? You can surely see both sides even if you fall more on them being tight. One person's cheapskate and penny pinching is another's being frugal and not wanting to be a push over.

I am a glutten for punishment here and I have seen enough replies from Froggy to say he can defend himself but say Newcastle wanted Onana from Everton supposedly they want 50m for him if we opened the bidding at say 30m is that insulting them knowing the kind of money they would "like" or would we be pleased we arent push overs and want to ensure best value for us. Ultimately if they are desperate for a new CB they will have to stump up the money, however under the special circumstances that is Everton's finances massive external debt and no current willing owners I would be seeing it as less of a position of strength than normal circumstances. Edit: if this is Man U's best and final offer/only offer or there next is say 36m after being told to double it or clear off then I would say they being delusional.

I can understand not wanting your eyes pulled out and going in with a low offer they have had points docked, the owner doesnt want to stay and take over in the balance thanks to 777 self destructing and maybe a chance of being sanctioned next year too. In this instance there is no way your going straight in at asking or say 10% of it. As I said I could be remembering the Gordan thing differently but I am sure it was the case they wanted 60/65 for him and had to accept less at the time to bring the income in. Unless they desperate for young and premier league experience once you go past say 50m surely there are a lot of options out there.
-
not wanting to stick up for them at all but Everton in the shit financially and had a similar stance with Gordan, dont think he is worth anything like 70m but its if they can meet in the middle somewhere.

No one else worried for the health for the lad in green.

I know if there was I would have read about it here but does anyone know when they going to publish the outcome of this consultation period? Clamouring for info as to what's happening as its all gone quiet which isn't a bad thing I know.
-
Unfortunately like Matt Targett there is a saleable asset there but his injury record last 12 months massively deflates his value. Plus we paid decent money for Willock was it around 30m? Not sure anyone pays close to that on him.
-
Looking forward to the "Nothings close" from Howe on Friday. Smiles and lack of smiles bound to be interpreted.

Agreed think my wider point is it's a shame our 3rd choices isn't an up and coming under 23 rather than someone in no one's plans to provide training alternatives to the other 2. Not sure I can celebrate the loyalty when it's been an amazing payday to be a training tool.

"He has had to take alot of shots" So does the post and crossbar, but isn't on no where near the wedge he will be on. As per with a few of them sound cheerleaders but not up to standard wish the youth setup was a few more years down the line to provide the padding to the squad.
-
Appreciate the player welfare angle and him being a leader he's not just trying to speak for himself here. However on the impact for him personally he already had a nice long rest through injury so hasnt had the 50 game season some will have and clearly from the performance he has offered at the mid week he needs minutes in his legs if he wants to play himself into any kind of form.
-
They can offer bigger wages and looking at their injury crisis he would be getting games. Negatives who will be the manager and will they fancy him and Europe next year not gaurenteed limiting game time opportunity. Like others have said we won't be his only offer and don't bemoan him wanting to hear out a few or everyone's packages. Hopefully he can see us as the right fit for him.
-
Agreed don't think he signs to be 3rd choice or emergency backup as you would think that's one of the factors that allow us to potentially beat off competition. No botman until at least Xmas and we have been so lucky schar has managed most of the season injury free or play through knocks. If we get into Europe will allow plus to offer more game time due to rotation.
-
Depends when and how these players are used schar, burn, lascelles, dummett, trippier all over 30 and not getting any younger we can't spend 30/40m in each position x 2 and academy maybe years away from pulling a gem. While I would prefer a policy of buying to immediately improve the starting line-up moving that current squad/regular starting into bench or squad players the age profile of the players mentioned means we could do with some padding. While players like this aren't unlimited budget wow signings it brings the age of the defenders down at relatively low costs. Don't offer 5 or 6 year deals on massive wedge and hopefully we can move them on if needs be.

Think it was mentioned in the last presser or one before confirmed that's him for the season

I am not a man u fan at all but most would agree having personnel missing effects how you play. To have to play a midfield player in defense must be a nightmare try winning games with longstaff as your CB? I admit I didn't watch the game and assume it's not the only reason for the loss but to not have a consistent back line can work out OK (did for us with lascelles for botman then BDB for lascelles) but I wonder if we would have faired as well with dummett and Ritchie in the back starting games or as mentioning dropping a midfielder in the back. I sorta feel sorry for them but massively benefits us so I can't feel too sorry for them.
-
When he has an off game he's dog shit but when he is playing well he doesn't look out of place at all. Lad seems happy to be here and help out the little mini celebrations with team mates when we score to me indicate he is one of the characters of the team. The fact I hope he is happy to help out whenever makes me feel he would understand being a squad/rotation player for us particularly if someone comes in for almiron so unless a decent offer comes in for him happy for him to stick around.
-
Little perplexed how me thinking him "upping" his game means he doesn't care?? He's a local lad bleeds black and white and is living the dream with his family in the crowd. Does that mean he's not been dog shit at times? Limited at times? Shadow tackling and almost allergic to recieve the ball and simply send it back to the team mate who passed to him in the first place. Caring about the club you love and putting your body on the line week after week to help the side as a collective has my respect. However this doesn't make me question how he can turn up like he did today when it appeared almost impossible as much as 2 weeks ago? Calibre of opposition maybe? Change in system? Or the prospect that having options on the bench means he has to find a way to elevate his performance or see him slip out of the side.
-
The cynic in me thinks players are coming back and finally options to put him on the bench and now he plays more than a 3 out of 10 performance.
-
Mentally scared by the last couple of frees in fraiser and hendrick However we surely want dummet out the door and lascelles extra year given to him will be mainly wasted on the treatment table. We need bodies and the added bonus of prem experience surely makes this a no brainer. As long as it's not a silly long contract the lad is only 27 this year and doesn't take away much from the main kitty other than wages which will be offset by hopefully some players just going not given an extra year.

Couldn't sleep last night and found myself looking at youtube highlight vids on him. Cannot remember him being that good for us in his brief spell before the ban but from footage what a miss he has been. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I6zp1uYjuVg&pp=ygUUQ2FudGJ3YWl0IGZvciBzYW5kcm8%3D

Not sure myself the camera for the game had kraft ready to come on in the first half he was then told to sit down so assume injury where fab tried to play on.
-
Hope this year is based on extremely reduced terms basically he is there to be in an odd youtube video and go in goal to give the other 3 a rest in between drills. Got to be an academy prospect who can the warm the seat he sits in.

Agreed club already confirmed 2 of those were in pipeline. https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/newcastle-united-ceo-reveals-what-st-james-park-might-be-called-as-sponsors-lined-up-after-ps25m-deal-4487951
