  1. well I think we all agree something further has to be done wether they get a minus to start the season then so be it but the small fine isnt far enough for such a blatant misuse of power
  2. the man u aspect cant be ignored can see them being raided again, also the irish influence could attract players. But can see your point would not suprise me if alot of players do what they did with westham join but put clauses to go for next to nowt if they go down.
  3. I recon its too late to take points off them now and possibly change who goes down, sad I know as this was handled really badly but as was mentioned before if we were one of the clubs affected then I would be calling for their heads
  4. seen as I'm worried about us being able to afford a full restructure the comment from SA about a clean slate suits me better, would like to see him kick some arse and maybe be shown a little more respect, the players were all down following the uefa cup exit and following that alot of them started to play up, which I recon isn't on but at the heart of it we are hoping those who stay will become performers rather than hangers on.
  5. I can see them doing a fulham poor season just scraping though and hoping to do something to change their fortunes the following season (with no idea how to do it)
  6. Shearer thought Souness and Roeder were great appointments. He's thick as mince. Shearer is too close to the club to ever really bad mouth an appointment to the club, like wise with him being a fan as well he would have as much hope as we all did both of them would have come good. I mean he is a good judge of a person (i hope im right due to his comments on owen and I want lil owen stays) and therefore keane is a twat always seems a cocky bastard in a bad way played for Man u and kicked seven sorts of shite out of shearer when they played against eachother and the way he thought he was better than the team when the whole ireland thing kicked off.
  7. the fact i think shearer is a good judge of character and personally as a player couldnt stand the bastard is enough for me. I agree with you I dont think that southgate has what it takes but again I recon we will soon see how it goes next season the true test for any manager comming up is hacking it in the top league and the manager who has only been in a season is second season syndrome.
  8. northeast rivals not had that in a while (for those who dont count boro) so i feel it is important, personally i hope they bomb out with less points than the last time, i still find it so funny how they will always get on the tv for getting the lowest points in premiership history.
  9. good first season top 10 finish and intertoto if possible and a clear out of dead wood over the summer great season uefa cup spot fantastic never going to happen finish = cup final/winning a cup what I try not to think about is how good the league has gotten outside the top 3 I would say even the lower teams on their day can put pay to those you expect to cruise to a win, so I think our finishing depends on how well other teams progress this summer/who is taken over and massively invested in
  10. will take a disasterous season in the prem for them to be bayin for blood to be fair due to what he has done he deserves at least that much chance.
  11. this may be totally off point or raised 100 times before but if we get some obsure signings and turn into a totally continental side with little to no english players in there would you be disappointment? I dont really mind as the league has been going this way for some time but i do feel a little proud that we do manage to field some english or uk players week in week out. Wouldn't be disappointed if they improve the team. We've got some good british players at the club who will be here next season. I think Given, Taylor, Milner, Parker, Butt, Duff and Owen may well stay here. A couple of them haven't performed this season but i think Allardyce can get them playing again. At the end of the day its not the player in the shirt who is the important thing, its the badge. I'd actually we rather signed a few obscure cheap players who improve the team, than pay £8m for an overpriced british player who is no better or not as good in some cases. true which is why i was wary of of mentioning it here many debates have started over the ammount of foreign players in leagues but I do agree with your sentiment we want success and we want it how it happens with or without english players in the side

  13. I would say as a bench mark I would like to aim for higher than boro (lost that 10 pund bet btw to the boro fan) and the mackems. I think that would lead my thinking towards a top 10 finish, if the right players come in and sam can get them to gell maybe squeeze a uefa place or intertoto, but a top half finish would not disappoint me. If he can "do a bolton" to coin a phrase and keep building season to season no mega summer over hauls which we seem to always be talking about and just tweak or replace players we loose I can see us building into something big, I wanna give him a few seasons I'm hoping by his contract end he will have us back into pushing the top 5 and getting results against the bigger "we are automatically going to loose these ones" teams.
  14. I agree I recon he was the wise old fella we needed to properly steady the ship and then after a while we start (as well as the players) how long can he go on, can he cope with the ship rocking. SA is still relatively young and hungry wanting success, wont put my neck on the line as far as you have HTT but would like to see us getting "closer" to success than we have in a long while.
  15. I have not felt this good sinse Robson came to take us out of the dark ages, simple man with an element of conviction in everything he says, all the hangers on will be shitting themselves now cause big sam is a do'er rather that what i think the last two plonkers were and that was all talk no substance.
  16. well right now we arent going to attract a premiership proven manager better than SA I mean come on if we aim for a uefa cup spot the next couple of season would you not be happy baring in mind under the rat we would have been facing possible relegation fears or below mid table mediocre football. All I'm trying to say is I want to see us in the CL as much as anyone but sinse we are never going to make this massive leap in a short period of time and with alot of teams following foreign investment becomming stronger we all need to realise that while the likes of the unt's and chelseas are in this league we along with 8 other sides are aiming for 5th down. Once we build oursellves back up, constant investment is made with the young en's, scouting, coaching and player spending and we are still sitting there stagnating thats when i will be screaming get us a new manager that can take us to the next level right now we arent even at an exceptable level so yes SA is perfect for the toon right now
  17. some great points but you are living on past glorys now if we had of found a new manager before robson lost the plot then yes season in season out we should have been in europe but times have changed we have had a disasterous couple of seasons due to souness, injuries and the rat. We now need rebuilding a club who have been in the CL before doesnt give us the right to be in it yr in yr out. SA would and should bring us back down to earth make us build season to season and hopefully not waste a fortune. Yes be ambition but please get your head out the clouds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. adding on from that every manager has to start somewhere you cannot tell me that every sucessful manager has been an instant hit from when they got their badges, so with SA I could see us progressing and he could all prove us wrong and make us into trophy winners.
  19. Righto, winning the league cup with Nufc is bigger than winning the CL with Real. No wonder our fans are such a laughing stock coming out with shite like this, we're a plodding mid-table prem side in the far north that's won nowt for 50 years. The sooner people wake up and realise this instead of believing we are one of the top sides in Europe is the day the club settles down on an even keel and starts to move forward. Where did he say that? I think his point is that we are an unpolished gem, and anyone who won something for us would rightly take ridiculous acclaim. Well why not take over at Gateshead? That'd be an even bigger achievement. Excuse the sarcasm, but can anyone think of an example of a manager, who has the option of either staying at or joining a bigger club, deciding to join a smaller one because it's more of a challenge? It doesn't happen. So we accept mediocrity forever, or do we, as a club, try to get someone better? its a progression thing it wont happen over night, in an ideal world the next manager will take us to another level and stabilise it all. After all that once we are looking like a good option then you can think about attracting class to the club, right now like many have admitted we wont be pulling in world cup winning managers any time soon with the state we are in. It isnt being negative trying to find a manager that will improve the team but possibly wont be good enough to push us into title contenders in an ideal world they would but as we all know we arent living in fairy land .
  20. both provide strength and depth to the squad also add an element of experience to help on the younger players oh an viduka is free, all good enough reasons for me.
  21. on a personal note i have a tenner bet with a boro fan that we will end above them so I hope we do win and win well but knowing us ...........
  22. I know this is your wish list and in a way i share a small ammount of hope that raneri will throw his hat into the pile. but the woodgate boat has sailed he has signed to boro we are never going to get him now and when his contract is over he will be too old. If all comes down to the manager that comes in but it is totally obvious we are short on experience at the back as well as strength wel fuck it every skill needed to make a defence so thats a priority. I would like to see someone come in and motivate the players we have to playing well as if we dont we literrally have such a small squad and not an endless pit of money we cannot afford a total overhaul. The players we would all like to see the back of will not sell for much and the replacements we are all pining for will cost us way more so we need to have a game plan here. Whoever comes in i hope they have a strong will to stop FS doing the same old trophy signing.
  23. Its not like we ain't given roeder a chance I mean he has had a few transfer windows, hours of time with the same players on match days and in the training ground. Had a small advantage in the sense that he has seen some of the young ones more than most mangers due to him being in the academy first. An yet time and time again he has failed. Even if owen had of been fit and we give the team 10 more points on the board it still isnt good enough or where we want to be. With Sam I feel I have hope he would at least make the right choices in a tough spot the ability to grind out results, was why I've always hated bolton but it would be what I would love about us annoy and frustrate teams and grinding out a result.
  24. "tada look who we got" picture on front of the rat being stepped on by super sam
  25. some of the games this season have been shocking due to the lack of trying by the players, they are all on a fortune the place is always jam packed shouting them on and they still can give us nothing, booing is maybe a little too far but it certainly isn't uncalled for.
