well what else do you want to talk about the weather?? He is an option due to the fact he is unwanted by arsenal and he has happy to move over here so is obviously expendable worth a chat aint it? Try the other gadzillion threads on the forum. well bring back the transfer rumour section instead then, as much as I dont want him here, dont think he will come, I thought the same about Owen so as much as we dont think its going to happen this is the toon they always make sure we do something the supports, pundits etc dont think they will do.

taylor had spent 2/3 of the season filling in positions really depends on how many defenders we sign and what the injuries/suspenions are like. I would agree to bring this lad along we need to play him week in week out and alternate the other CB.

gets well and signs the club over or gets well enough to fight with ashley all summer giving us 10 million to spend 2 days before the window closes?

is this going to be televised i just have this awful feeling if i watch i will see owen get injured again, I cant help it it keeps flashing in my mind even a television camera falling on him or somthing to cause im injury.

Very good post and exactly how I see things. Will be interesting to see how the manager/takeover affects Oba and Owen and we shouldn't forget the lack of Euro games and Owen's injury-proneness, either. Would be great if we could keep both AND add another quality striker to the pool, but it would be impossible to keep them all happy if they were all fit for an extended period of time together. Which is, of course, extremely unlikely. not that i want to start some slap on the back action but i do end up always agreeing with your trail of thought, it has been a big problem for alot of big clubs for an age we could never keep them all happy, been lucky that martins has been injury free alot of this season. We do also need to bare in mind martins is as good as gone for over a month in the jan due to the african nations (on a personal note I love watching it as my friend comes from ghana aka the black stars) so we need a better back up than ameobi. I think over all it depends on the transfer budget, with enough cash we could go for the rip the team apart approach do a chelsea and hope 40-50 million is enough or we try and build over a couple of seasons which in a way sinse ive started to type this im thinking no europe this year we can cope with ameobi playing first team for a little bit so why dont we concentrate on the defence then i would love to splash big money on a midfielder that actually scores goals, forget a defensive midfielder i want a 10+ goal scoring midfielder.

i think i was seeing bent as our target man as more like somone with a physical presense but is also good on the ball and would work up with either owen or martins as the pacy shorter man. i guess we have to be wary if the rumours are true about owen and martins and we hold onto them how bad will it be to bring in someone else as compeptition to alienate one of them into leaving. I think its catch 22 new money from the big investor type could open the doors for alot of people we thought not possible but we cant forget we already have two very decent strikers (on their own anyway still unconvinced as a unit).
-
then that mean us going in for bent then janitor or cause of the manager will he be too much of a trophy signing and we should still expect a possible unknown?
-
its ok they will be restocking the shelves at all the local gregs and pie shops in wait for his quick return .....
-
out of interest why? baring in mind he wouldnt be cheap no matter how much his club dont want him back
-
i would take reyes over baptista any day but sure we can be abit more picky than this
-
he never set it alight when playing in a good team in arsenal with us he would be even less interested we aint "cosmipolitan" for that type of player can see him heading back to spain or italy tbh
-
we get enough of a squad together i would like the "kids" to go out there and get regular lower league football and then come back and be a more experienced player for it well i still prefer chopra over ameobi than him but that was going to be my second point I may be shot for this but in a way i feel ameobi may have been a better player if he had of been sent out to the lower leagues rather than stagnating on the bench waiting for the big boys to get injured which tbh is the story of his carear so far Fair enough, but i prefer him over Ameobi tbh..

well she is dating ronaldo so ya better start earning millions a year Jon

Something tells me the coaching Martins had in his early years was a damnsight better than what Shearer had at Southampton. hey alan learned alot about scrubbing the senior players boots and washing his own kit like it was something he was going to be burried in good training that.
-
at the time we all saw it as a panic buy didnt we? he played well which made it more easy to swallow getting an old squad type player but doesn't mean I would be quick to offer the guy a long term contract. hindisghttastic so who would have scored the goals sib did this year? Someone better you know when he signed right jon boy?
-
If SA does keep him I recon he will see where his game needs improvement and I hope his general game improves. If he goes I just hope we get someone as good in a similar age bracket.
-
Once again any money spent on Bent would be generated by the sale of either Owens or Martins as we would need to replace them. Therefore we would not be 'wasting' money as you say. Why do people keep claiming it will hinder our other plans? Why does making this buy mean our defence will be neglected to some? Come on now this isn't rocket science! plus SA has already said he is not going for a trophy signing, so say FFS has given him 20 million to spend why would he want to spend 3/4 on one player when we have a team to build. Iam concerned if both owen and martins both stay we still loose martins in the new year so why not try and take some on the cheap.
-
he wants the best along side him and possibly built the backroom team over the 8+ years at the club, although he didnt pay their wages he did give them a break and they may feel more loyal to him than the club, an as I have said before we do not know what the ins and outs of the contract release and why the chairman said yes, maybe it was all down to the fact SA has been loyal to the club and wanted a change of direction and then the toon job came up and FFS slapped a wad of cash in his lap and said " you will have a big budget spend away" again all speculation but that is all your doing.

been rolled out at the boro as a new age in season ticket technology supposedly will make gate times quicker now I could think of a hundred jokes to do with boro attendances but instead ill just say its a good idea about the cards nice to see we are keeping up with the jones's
-
Yea he's at the bottom but as someone has said African nations is next season so quite a few players will be leaving for a while. Sidwell will get the chance to win things and to play in the CHL so i can understand why he moved there. you honestly think chelsea want to be playing him in the CL? he will be rolled out with the other high paid bench warmers for the worthington or FA cup against a minow side
-
seen as im not reading any of this thread sinse its already been locked when it the match due to be in? fancy going to a pre-seasoner already in the mood for the start of the season, darn high paid footballers wanting their summer holidays

so to sumarise this thread we have found out that monkeys like to go to the toilet too much.......

anal: "having spent the last few weeks expecting sidwell to arrive at st jame's as SA first signing he descided to take the money and run off to chelsea despite the best efforts of the chairman to sign him this is one that got away" sort of writes itself to be honest.
