He isn't quick at all which is a shame but then neither was RVN. If he can play with intelligence he could turn out well (here's hoping, anyway).

Am I reading that wrong or has he pretty much just thrown the towel in against Spurs with that statement? Maybe with the injuries and suspensions, Spurs excellent away form and our near bottom of the form table results, he's just not expecting 3 points. Neither am I.

Actually think he just got caught flat footed. Coupled with his non existent recovery pace i think it made it look like he'd f**ked worse than he had. Justa bad body position to start with. Would be due to being unfamiliar in the role i would think. It's not recovery pace, he just can't be arsed. Has no urgency to his game whatsoever. He's not in Italy anymore man. He's been here for a good while. You think? I reckon he just has bad acceleration. Like, Shola bad. That and he gives up too easy

Well, tbf, i don't think he's much of a LB.

You can make facts prove anything tbh

Against Norwich he played some tasty balls. He's got the vision and the execution. Just doesn't seem to be the way he likes to play football. Shame because if the oppostion weren't sure if was going to pass or dribble he could really exploit that indecision. As it, you know he's gonna go for it!

Away to Chelsea Majority of DM's in the league probably don't look very good at Stamford Bridge the way Chelsea overrun your midfield. It's not exactly polemic to suggest he's not CM!!!!! He just didn't offer any protection at all. I don't think we'd have won if Gosling had played instead. But by the same token. Why not play Marveaux if you're convinced we're going to lose? At least SM gets 90 minutes to get some fitness in. Might even discover a bit of desire and apply himself.. Just find it strange that you'd only give him one chance away to Chelsea to shine and because he didn't, say it's failed. I think he was alright like considering it was his first game there for us and against the calibre of players up against him. Defensively poor again like he is at left back but he was good on the ball and helped us build attacks. If nobody was back fit again for Wed, I’d have no problems with Santon having another stint in the middle. I'd personally prefer Marv to be given a chance but it's not looking likely, would have done himself a favour if he hadn't of missed the great chance at the end. Unless i've missed something i don't expect Santon to be a regular at CM for us for the rest of the season so it's, at best, a moot point. I'm not sure he should be in the side at all tbh.

Or Colo fit asap, then he'll be dropped. I don't doubt the dressing room is strong but there's no need to come out with this sort of s***. Don't know wft you're on about. I'm being genuine. Pardew needs players he feels are behind him. Players on whom he can trust their reaction. Also, based on form, MYM seems more likely to drop a b*ll*ck than Taylor. I didn't mean you, i meant Taylor's quotes in the paper. Soz!

Didn't think he was very good at CM. Failed experiment.

Sammy deserves it and LDJ must be tired. That's got to be the first 90 mins he's played in how long? If the next game was at the w/end then i could see LDJ starting again. Just think this might come a little too soon. It's not like Pardew has a choice, he only has Shola to turn to. I'm sure he wishes he had other options, like. We've got a 10 day break after this though, LDJ needs to play to build up match fitness. I think he'll play but i'll be surprised if he starts. His legs must feel like lead!

Excellent first touch. Gives him time to get his head up. Hope he keeps progressing and becomes a good player.

Both Ameobis to start i'd say. De Jong to come on 2nd half.

Looks like Vivienne Westwood.

It's a tough time for Pardew. Lost Cabaye and results have been very poor. He needs to have people in the dressing room whom he knows will be behind him. Be outspoken in praise for him. Taylor will have to have a truly horrific game to be dropped.

Pardew didn't even complain publicly about JFK, he's hardly going to speak out against Carr is he? When things go badly, Pardew gets the blame, when they go well Carr gets the glory. I doubt Pards is enamoured about that. And, although i don't rate him, i could understand that. If the club believes in the manager then buy players that suit him. If the club believes in the chief scout then hire a manager who shares a similar view on players. It's not rocket science. It's the simplest of concepts, actually.

Well Pardew has mentioned to the effect we need a big dominant CB, which we are desperate for but we got Colo's replacement in first. It's always going to cause some sort of confusion when the manager isn't in full control of transfers but i don't think Pardew will be moaning about the type of players coming in. I'm afraid i disagree there. If he had full control of transfers i don't think he would choose to buy MYM, Anita, HBA, Marveaux or Cisse. I'm not saying he would buy those players. I just don't think he's twisting his face and causing a fuss when those players are signed though. From what he says him and Carr seem to have a good working relationship and they talk things through together. It's just always makes things slightly awkward when a manager doesn't have full control of transfers and players maybe bought which the manager wouldn't buy himself. AVB had that problem at Spurs, standard of players wasn't in question but when they aren't your signings it can make things more difficult. It seems you think if he did complain it would be unjustified. Twisting his face and causing a fuss. Tbh, i don't think many managers would want someone buying players for them that they wouldn't pick themselves. We have done this too often (when we've bothered to buy anyone at all). It's got to be in excess for £20m for MYM, Anita and Cisse. I'm sure Pardew could have thought of a different way to spend that.

Think he's a 'Carr signing'. Not the type of player Pardew wants.

We don't tend to look as good without Tiote, it must be said.
-
This is the type of match where Tiote normally does really well at. Without him, our central midfield looks p*ss poor defensively. Without Cabaye it does. Without Tiote we keep the ball better. If Tiote was fit would you have chosen to drop him for this match? Who would you play in central midfield out of Tiote, Sissoko, Anita, Marv, Bigi and Gosling (the assumption that everyone was available).
