This opinion piece from Bob Moncur. It doesn't really fit into any thread so I put it here as Moncur mentions transfers. You'd never guess he was on the club's payroll. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bob-moncur-newcastle-uniteds-success-6932914

Cabaye not on corner duty for PSG then?

No. As repeated in the statement, the target for this season was/is a top 10 finish. A top 10 finish is this seasons target (which might not be achieved given the free fall we have been in since Boxing Day). I wonder what next seasons target will be? Without suitable replacements for Cabaye and Remy next seasons realistic target could well be don't get relegated from the Premiership. I liked this from NUFC.com: - I bet NUFC are hoping we get drawn away from home in both cups.
-
So the main target for NUFC is to not be relegated from the Premiership? The ambition! Not getting relegated from the Premiership is the same target the 3 teams promoted from the Championship have.
-
Hughton getting sacked more than likely means Norwich won't be making Jonas' move a permanent one.
-
We had something to play for this time last season. We were playing not to be relegated. We were awful then too.

Good shout. Done an extremely good job x 2. I thought of him but then I remembered how our owner and Wigan's owner hate each other.

The same for "True Faith". http://www.true-faith.co.uk/digital/

When we were 3 - 0 down yesterday we still didn't get any support into the box. At times it was literally Cisse versus 5 Man U players in their half of the pitch. The problem for Cisse at the moment is even when he gets a shot away on target the keepers keep pulling off good saves. That must mean he is either very unlucky or he keeps putting his shots too close to the keeper.

I assume anyone who thinks Pardew hasn't lost the dressing room thinks our players have a whole other level of terrible they can drop to? If our players are playing for the manager I'd hate to see their efforts if they had given up on him.

If you care about the club - don't attend the Swansea game

Does he? He doesn't seem to mind one of his assets (NUFC) being shown up as a shower of s*** every game. If he was embarrassed by such things I'd have thought he'd have sacked Pardew and spent some money in the transfer windows. Newcastle getting dicked over every game barely gets a comment in the media. Would the media be that interested if a few thousand fans didn't turn up for one game? -
I'd be mortified if NUFC bought him. Lucien Favre, the Borussia Mönchengladbach manager, doesn't rate Luuk de Jong.

Most people who turn up are season ticket holders. It's not like 52000 are paying on the gate each week to watch what we're being served up. They've already paid to watch the games so it's no loss to Mike Ashley if they don't turn up. People want to go because they've already paid for it. I'm sure if that wasn't the case the ground would be half empty. It will be interesting to see how many turn up next season. I won't be there as I cancelled my season ticket. It will be interesting to see how many others did. -
Chris Hughton was sacked for a lot less.
-
During the warm up before the game people were cheering when he scored a few goals. It's a shame he never looked like scoring during the actual game. My advice to Luuk de Jong would be for him to try to get a move back to the Eredivisie in the Summer.

Shola will have loved getting booed on to the pitch. He'll be thanking Pardew for putting him on. If Armstrong had come on the fans would have had goodwill for him and would have cheered his efforts. Putting Shola on is asking for a negative reaction.

I was at the game so I've just got in. I've had a laugh reading the live BBC commentary from today: - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26886219 Loads of Man U fan text comments where they think they were great and saying how their win proves things are on the up for them. We were f***ing s*** again. Just about any team in the league (and probably the Championship) would have beaten us. We just give opposition teams a false sense of how good they really are. "The Entertainers" are back. Every Newcastle game guarantees an avalanche of goals (unfortunately for us they are all into our goal). How has Pardew not been sacked? I'm so glad I cancelled my season ticked back in January. I've only got two more home games to sit through. Thank you to Mike Ashley, Alan Pardew and the players for crushing our meagre hopes.
-
I've never heard any other manager talk up the opposition as much as he does. It doesn't matter if we are playing a lower league side or the side at the top of the Premier League, he always comes out with reasons why it will be a tough game before we play them. Keep that negative thinking to yourself. You can be respectful of opposition without stating in the media how they will be difficult to beat. It's basic psychology that if you keep telling yourself you can't do something then you won't do it.

We have nothing to lose (except the game) so Pardew thinks about playing Gosling who will be leaving on a free in the Summer? Why not play players who actually have a future at the club? At least playing Marveaux and Ben Arfa puts them in the shop window if they are going to be sold in the Summer. Armstrong should also be ahead of Shola. Shola is the past and Armstrong might be the future. At least Armstrong would have the goodwill of the crowd on his side.
