  1. If Marveaux actually made an impact in the games he had played he may get a run in the side. Even when he has played for the whole game in cup games against lower league opposition he hasn't made much of an impression.

  3. I remember people laughing about the prospect of Ben Arfa going up against Hull's stand in left back.
  4. It has to be said that MOTD 'highlights' should be called biased clips. Our game's highlights were more like 'Liverpool with a cameo appearance by Newcastle United'. That commentator was a dick too. After Dummet's goal he said "was he on side?".
  5. I've read people describe him as "class" but I can't remember him ever having a big impact on any of the games he has played for us. For me he's never really taken his opportunities. His best position appears to be through the middle, not the wing. A couple of good passes now and then during a game isn't enough. He just doesn't seem cut out for the Premiership. If we sell him it will probably be to a club in France. I don't think it would be very hard to replace him. In his defence he is probably our best corner taker.
  6. Having seen Ben Arfa play on the right wing and through the middle I'd always play him on the right wing. He just seems to be more productive when cutting in from the right. He has less players to take on when he is on the right. If Ben Arfa is played on the wing we should have someone cover for him when he goes forward.
  7. How good is it going to be if Man U have a tough season? All their fans from around the world watching them struggle. A draw would suit us here. Keeps Sunderland and Man U below us.
  8. I thought this was one of Tioté's best games in ages.
  9. The second half was going fine until we conceded. The second half was like a basketball game. Both sides were just running at each other. If we were more clinical in front of goal we wouldn't have been put through so much stress.
  10. We did push for a third. Our players kept fluffing their chances. When they did get a shot away the Cardiff keeper made some decent saves.
  11. I'm sure someone like Michael Laudrup or Roberto Martínez could have our team playing decent football and getting much better results than Pardew manages. Pardew is a poor manager. Our team never seem to add up to the sum of it's parts. We don't play good football and we rarely play well over a whole 90 minutes. Our team start the first or second half of games like they've just woken up. Having said that, this thread is about the Cardiff game. Ben Arfa was poor against Hull City. Teams with bigger squads would probably drop a player after a poor performance. Some even drop players after good performances as they set their team up depending on who they are playing. We have a best 11 and then we are scrabbling around for players to replace them if the best 11 aren't performing. I have no idea what Ben Arfa or the team get told. Sometimes it looks like the team get told to pass the ball to Ben Arfa and then stand still and watch what he does. When two or three players mark Ben Arfa that should create space for the rest of the team. Our team rarely give Ben Arfa an option of someone to pass to. Ben Arfa tries to beat the opposition team on his own. I don't know if the root of the problem is Ben Arfa doesn't pass or the team give him no options to pass to. Ben Arfa is my favourite player to watch in our team. I want him to start but I also want him to play well. Most of our team can have a poor game safe in the knowledge that they'll be starting the next game anyway. As shit as Pardew is our players have to take responsibility for their performances sometimes. Everything is not always Pardew's fault.
  12. As has been said, not many of our players are in good form. Only Remy, Anita and Gouffran can be considered to have played well recently. We obviously can't drop everyone but we have to drop some of the players who aren't performing. For example, we've persisted with Cissé mainly due to lack of an alternative. Now Gouffran and Remy are playing well Cissé can be dropped. Would anyone be upset if Dummett started over Santon? Most people would be happy to drop Debuchy but we don't really have a natural replacement for him. I did say that Ben Arfa has no replacement. Ben Arfa doesn't track back. If that's the case, tell him to stay up the pitch and have the left and right backs stay back. Santon and Debuchy bomb forward but rarely create anything. We'd probably be better off if they stayed back. I would happily have a different manager to Pardew but we're stuck with him at the moment. I'm sure other managers could do better with our team.
  13. Ben Arfa can't have any complaints about being dropped to the bench after his poor performances against Hull and Everton. Dropping him is only controversial because we don't really have any other creative players to replace him in the team. Gouffran deserves to start ahead of Cissé based on form. If players aren't producing the performances then they need to be dropped. We need competition amongst the squad. Dummett may get a chance ahead of Santon. It's up to Ben Arfa, Cissé and any other player not starting to try to force their way into the team. They need to take their chance when they are on the pitch.
  14. You still going on about Forster leaving? He said unless he was going to be first choice he wanted to leave. I take it you'd have had him as number 1 over Krul? Let it go. He's long gone. Two posts = going on? Was merely commenting on his good performance tonight. I like to see our ex lads do well. I'm pretty sure you've gone on about him before. I can't be arsed to check back through your old posts. If it wasn't you I apologise but my point still stands. He wanted to leave as he wasn't going to be ahead of Krul.

  16. Abysmal first half, really good second half. If only we could play well for 90 minutes. I hope José Mourinho enjoyed Lukaku's first half performance. What an idiot he is loaning out Chelsea's best striker.
  17. Sponsorship isn't shown on its own unless they mention it in the notes. I'll take your word for it. We all know that if Virgin Money had offered more than Wonga to be the shirt sponsor they'd 100% be on our shirt today.
  18. It is pure bullshit to say Virgin Money paid £10m a year to sponsor NUFC. Virgin Money took over Northern Rock's sponsorship deal. Northern Rock certainly weren't paying £10m a season sponsorship either. Wonga is the biggest shirt sponsor deal NUFC have ever had according to the club. The sponsorship income for each year will be listed in the club accounts.
  19. Their reaction to the quote is embarrassing to them as it shows them as not being very intelligent. Every time they bring it up it amuses me. It's not for nothing that we call them the Scouse Mackems.
  20. That all came about because of Everton players (and fans) not being able to comprehend English: - http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-columnists/alan-pardew-disrespectful-what-was-really-said/

  22. I guess the only positive of this draw is that Man City are unlikely to demand that tickets are priced more than £15 (Newcastle wanted to charge £15 for tonight's game but Leeds wanted it to be £25 a ticket. Arbitration decided the £20 price).
