  1. If Liverpool and Tottenham join Chelsea and Newcastle in the knock out stages of the Europa League you just know which team ITV4 and ESPN won't show.
  2. Think you've missed the point? The debate is on the news that he is on £40k and he says he wants £80k. My point is if he wants more money, keep him on £40k and give him a decent sum of money per goal so if he churns in 30 in the league he would end up making the extra £2m a year from the goal bonus haul. By giving him the extra £2m a year in his contract automatically he could have a shitter and score 0 goals and get paid the higher amount of contributing nothing. I understand what you are saying but if NUFC put a goal bonus clause in Ba's contract the rest of the team would start wanting bonuses. Why would they? Just because it's in lieu of a double your money pay rise? Wouldn't the team all ask for double your money pay rises if he got that? I think not. Of course they would. It's the thin end of the wedge. You can't give bonuses to one player but not others. If Cisse scores a goal he doesn't get a bonus but when Ba does Ba gets a bonus? It would lead to trouble in the squad. For example, Krul and the defence would all want a bonus for clean sheets. Better to give no player a bonus than to give one player a bonus. If Ba wants to leave he will go. There seems to be a lot of stories about Ba moving clubs every time a transfer window approaches. All players earn vastly different amounts of money at the club. I just don't get why automatically doubling Ba's wages is more favorable to the rest of the team than to say to Ba you can have that extra money but only through bonuses. Surely giving someone double their money for nothing is worse for the rest of the players than to say you can have that money but only if you hit this target criteria? I'm sure if Ba's wages were doubled a lot of players would be demanding pay rises too. One of the reasons for ending goal bonuses given by Lambias was he said Martins used to shoot from the half way line.

  5. NUFC no longer put goal bonuses into contracts which is fair enough I think. Ba's job is to score goals. Why pay him extra for doing his job?
  6. The constant pain he has been feeling hopefully explains his mediocre form this season. We're going to need the rested, fully fit Cabaye firing on full cylinders when he returns to the team.
  7. If i was Pardew i'd be staying at home and sending Willie Donachie over to france with the U21 squad. f*** off with that s****. Resting players has not helped us one f***ing bit this year. We've still played a mix of first team and reserves, i'm saying f*** that and just play ALL reserves and leave both the first team squad and coaching staff at home. NUFC won't be risking any first team players against Bordeaux. Elliot or Harper, Amalfitano, Bigirimana, Abeid and players from the U21 squad will play that game.
  8. I'd imagine Ranger will be starting against Bordeaux a week on Thursday. There's no way we'll be risking Cisse or Ba in that game.
  9. Maybe we should try to loan Guthrie from Reading in January (sarcasm). Guthrie turned down NUFC's contract offer to get games but he isn't getting a game for Reading after rumours of falling out with their manager. As it happens I think he'd have played just about every week for us if he'd stayed what with Cabaye and Tiote never being available at the same time. His move hasn't worked out for him or NUFC.

  11. After NUFC's performances in the majority of games this season I'm certainly not going to predict any player will score a hat full of goals. Having said that, going more or less full strength gives us a better chance of a good result (and hopefully performance).
  12. If he stays on loan at West Ham all season and hardly scores any goals Liverpool will be lucky if they get £5m for him.
  13. We'll very likely win with a weakened team playing. Southampton next week is infinitely more important and should be the immediate priority. I agree our weakened team may win but the policy of resting first team players for Premiership games isn't getting good results. Maybe playing a more settled side and getting them a win could be more beneficial than the players being fully rested. It could give them some much needed confidence going into the Southampton game. Loads of players at other teams play two games a week. I don't see why ours can't. For example, can Ben Arfa really only play one 90 minute game a week?
  14. No pissing about with a shadow team. Send out the strongest team possible. Reasons? A win would ensure we qualified for the knock out stages. A win may mean that we win the group and would therefore not face a Champions League team in the first knock out stage. The first choice 11 team could do with the confidence boost of a win (if we win). The supposed benefits of resting first team players for the Premiership has not been reflected in the results. At the moment we don't look like we'll be qualifying for Europe next season so we may as well give it a proper go this season.
  15. Resting the likes of Ben Arfa every Europa League game has done nothing for our Premier League performances. We should play most of the first choice team on Thursday. They could do with a win to get their confidence going. There's no reason why some of our players can't play two games in a week. Other sides better than ours have players who play twice a week. Are Ben Arfa, Ba, Cisse, Jonas, etc not fit enough to play twice a week? If they aren't they should be!
  16. NUFC didn't let Guthrie go. NUFC offered him a new contract but he wanted first team football so he left (ironically he's not starting for Reading). We should have bought an attacking, central midfielder as cover for Cabaye.

  18. I wonder if he has some sort of hernia problem? He had a stomach problem the last time he was away with France. He supposedly came off holding his stomach the other day and now he has a groin problem?
  19. Depends what you see his position as. I do like him in a central three, using his strength to carry the ball forward. He's one of very few who never look for the long ball and we need that at the moment. If Jonas is counted as a central player then we don't have much cover for him. Tiote, Bigi and Anita play a similar role to each other. Cabaye is the only attacking, central midfielder. We don't have anyone to cover Cabaye's role if Cabaye is out. Gosling is injured and when he isn't he hasn't really impressed. That's one of the reasons I'd like us to buy an attacking central midfielder.
  20. Just because someone comes from the same country as you it doesn't mean you'll be best friends. As long as they don't hate each other it shouldn't be a problem. At work there's people I get on really well with and others I get on OK with. It will be the same for the players at any football club. Perch mentioned being good friends with Williamson. That doesn't mean Perch doesn't like Taylor or Colo.
  21. Along with quite a few other in the squad, Gutierrez hasn't performed that well this season. On paper we have a lot of cover in Jonas' position in Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi, Obertan, Ferguson and maybe Amalfitano (having said that, Sammy currently has a hamstring injury and Amalfitano went off with an ankle 'knock' in the under 21s game). Hopefully whoever covers for Jonas steps up to the plate and takes their chance. They might not put in as much work as Jonas but they would probably create more going forward.
