    Graham Carr

The type of players who would have cost £5m when Carr was at NUFC cost £18m minimum these days. More than Mike Ashley will pay. Free transfers, low transfer fee clauses and loans are where Mike Ashley's NUFC are at.
  2. Trying to get out of paying for a manager the NUFC fans do not want. They'll end up coming to an agreement and then Bruce will be sacked and paid off mid season (unless Ashley is so lacking in interest that he just accepts the impending relegation and keeps Bruce on).

  4. https://www.channel4.com/programmes/wolff-meets-southgate Southgate on how to motivate players "I think one thing we have to do is provide an environment for them that they believe is world class. Because I think if they think there are short cuts being taken or there isn't an investment in the team, or the level of training isn't right or the facilities could be better then that can demotivate people." Remind you of anywhere?
  5. They should put a statement out saying Steve Bruce will not be welcomed. Also, as I mentioned in the boycott thread, take out crowd funded adverts to publish an open letter to the FA, PL, media, etc about the state of the club.
  6. I certainly wasn't suggesting The Chronicle. I was thinking more of a national paper. Most papers are linked to some horrible owner. It's not even the paper that matters so much, it's more the story of paying for an advert (an open letter to the PL, the FA, the media and potential owners maybe) in a national newspaper. It may generate media coverage of the situation. The Atheist Society bus ad campaign generated a lot of media interest for example. The ad generated a lot of publicity compared to how much it cost.
  7. Could the fans not crowd fund an anti Ashley advert campaign? Pay for bus adverts, Metro adverts, etc. A full page advert in a newspaper spelling out all our grievances. Would a page in a paper cost that much these days?
  8. This. The media do a lousy job. If you're rich you get off very lightly.
  9. The Premier League probably assume NUFC won't be an issue for them after this upcoming season.
  10. You'll probably get your wish.
  11. You can 100% guarantee the fans will be blamed by the dickheads in the media for making it an impossible job. We'll only have ourselves to blame when NUFC are relegated from the Premiership. Mike Ashley is a businessman and he doesn't want to put his own money into the club, etc, etc. :partridgeshrug: Oh yes, bring it on, I'm just saying what arseholes like Danny Murphy will say.

  13. Take pleasure in knowing they are wasting their own life and money sitting watching the crap served up by Ashley. I really don't take any pleasure in it, no matter what points I put across there's either an excuse to go or a shrug. So I just resorted to having digs every now and then, such as cheering Steve Bruce's decision to bring on Colback to steady the ship, watching players such as Longstaff being shipped out, watching the likes of lascelles, schar and lejeune 'decline' as they struggle without an actual manager then blaming them for it. Fuckin bollocks. When they complain that NUFC are shit and getting beat most games just say "What did you expect?"
  14. Worth quoting in full for those who don't like to go on the Chronicle website (most people). If Bruce does get the job I hope John Gibson is at the press unveiling to restate this opinion directly to Bruce for the rest of the media to hear.

  16. Well considering that post is from 30/01/2018 I wouldn't bother.
  17. A consortium of Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg and Carlos Slim wouldn't be able to buy NUFC off Ashley. Ashley would put out a statement about a lack of proof of funds and the media would publish it.

  20. Stuart Pearce "I'm astounded as well. Whilst I think Bruce is a good suit for the club, I also think David (Moyes) might have been a slightly better fit. "Bruce has definitely done it, with Birmingham, Norwich, he's done a real solid job at those clubs. I think it's a good appointment personally, a solid set of hands." https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-steve-bruce-verdict-16573044
  21. It's just classic Ashley. Gets our hopes up again that this appointment might fall through and then BOOM he agrees the compensation and Bruce is the new manager.
  22. I've already read huge numbers of "Who do they expect?" comments from thick fans of other clubs. The media go with "You could do a lot worse" (Could we though? Really?). What all these groups have in common is they follow Mike Ashley's thinking of "Being in the Premiership is all that matters".
