  1. For the rest of the season he should be used as an impact sub and definitely not a starter. He must go out on loan next season.
  2. I doubt Blackburn will be wanting to buy Santa Cruz off Man City as he hasn't done much on loan to them. There's another huge loss for Man City because of a Hughes purchase.
  3. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/860270-romelu-lukaku-spurs-move-to-be-hijacked-by-newcastle-in-crouch-deal#ixzz1IsRWiZqh A likely scenario? More like utter bollocks.
  4. He wasn't banned for doing it into the camera though, just for swearing. If players were banned every time they swore then no club would be able to field 11 players. There probably isn't a specific rule about swearing into a TV camera but there is one about swearing (which Referees rarely enforce). I bet people would complain if players regularly got booked for swearing but it is in the rules so the Refs would be entitled to do so. True, but with this decision, the FA have now open the floodgates, every player caught swearing now will have to be banned. I don't know what the specific rule is but if Refs gave a yellow card to any player who came up to them swearing about a decision they'd soon learn not to do it. It may stop teams crowding the officials too. I imagine it would help with the FA's Respect campaign. So if they only get a yellow, why give Rooney a two game ban? Like I said, I don't know what the specific rule is. Anyway, as we all know, the FA do what the FA want. Whether he should have been banned or not, there is a rule about swearing. The fact that it is rarely enforced is the issue rather than the fact that it has been in Rooney's case.

  7. I swear plenty myself but I recognise when it's acceptable and when it's not acceptable to do so. Football isn't broadcast after the watershed. Rooney spouting a load of abuse into a live TV camera is obviously not very clever. Would people's opinions of e.g. Shearer, Henry, etc. be the same if every time they scored a goal they shouted swear words (as Rooney often does)?
  8. He was wearing when playing in Madrid if it makes you feel any better. He doesn't strike me as the confrontational type. Obviously a naive error unless he also happened to wear a Sunderland shirt when he played the Newcastle Arena the other week.
  9. Shola Ameobi according to his training kit.
  10. I'm sure in one of last weeks training photos someone (possibly Nolan) was wearing the Number 9 on his training gear. The guy working with Ben Arfa in the other photo is wearing Shola's 23 on his kit.
  11. Exactly but the same argument can be applied to video evidence. Mike Williamson, Barton and Bowyer all got bans after being caught on video. Rooney elbows a Wigan player and it was caught on video. He got away with it. The FA need to be consistent all the time. Applying rules shouldn't depend on who the player is or who they play for.
  12. That's an interesting way of describing NUFC.
  13. I must have missed the Independent article about the abuse Barton gets at every game. Rooney shouting into the camera does not get heard by fans abusing him in the ground. It gets heard by the people watching it on TV. Having said that, hopefully FIFA 12 will have a "shout a load of abuse into a TV camera" goal celebration.
  14. He probably supports them as much as Tony Blair supports Newcastle.
  15. He's done it loads of times before so he's got away with it up until now. That apology statement Man U issued was blatantly not written by Rooney. If Barton had done it they'd have banned him. All the rules should apply to all players, no matter who they are or who they play for.

  17. Trouble is he knows he's well passed his best and knows no other club will pay him anywhere near the supposed £60K a week he is on with us. He'll probably sit tight for the last year of his contract and then retire, go abroad or play in the Championship. He'll be almost impossible to sell.

  20. Oh and don't forget the curse is lifted. St. James' Park witnesses a Saturday 3pm Premier League victory for the first time since August 2008.
  21. The bottom 3 have 21 points to play for so 53 is the highly unlikely maximum we'd need. They all play each other so it wouldn't really be that high anyway. It would be if the highly unlikely occurred and West Ham or Wolves won every one of their last 7 games and the teams above them kept pace. There are too many games left to tell really though.

  23. I still think it could take a record number of points to stay up this season. None of the teams at the bottom have shown any signs of giving up. Bottom half clubs are still pulling off shock results. Once we are on 43+ points I'll think we are safe.
  24. Well done to all the players a good number of Newcastle Online users seem to hate: - Lovenkrands scored a goal and provided an assist for Ameobi's goal. Ameobi scored a goal and provided an assist for Nolan's goal. Nolan scored a goal and prevented a Wolves player running through on goal. Steven Taylor ran out of defence and provided the assist for Jonas. Jonas scored! Perch headed one off the line. We aren't quite safe yet though. I think this season is going to set a new record for the number of points required to stay up.
  25. Just rewound it and he appears to shout to the camera something like "Fucking come on. What? Fuck off". Div. I thought his usual goal 'celebration' was shouting the "F" word into the nearest TV camera. I've seen him do it in quite a few games. It's amazing how he doesn't get punished for it.
