  1. I posted that article in the "General NUFC" thread yesterday. I formatted it too. https://www.newcastle-online.org/forum/index.php?topic=97774.3225
  2. Sunderland are currently to us what Portsmouth are currently to Southampton.
  3. This article is 2 years old but still relevant. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/2015/oct/06/premier-league-takeovers-clubs-not-selling https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_owners_of_English_football_clubs
  4. "We're shit and we're sick of it" was the song the fans sung during Allardyce's time at NUFC. He bought a lot of passed it players too. I suppose this is the "unpopular opinion" thread so keep up the good work fellas.
  5. Who is buying football clubs these days? From what I've noticed over the last couple of years it seems to be Chinese or American consortiums buying 'fixer upper' Championship clubs. Even then they aren't throwing huge sums at the clubs. The Wolves owners are the only ones I can think of to do that. The Inter (or was it AC?) Milan owners haven't done much. We seem to have missed out on the buyers who are happy to spend £400m on a club. I'd agree (and so do a lot of media pundits) that NUFC are the obvious club for a mega rich buyer to buy. I'm wary of any buyer who buys a club with the idea of running it at a big profit. It just doesn't happen.
  6. Really good article: - https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/incredible-story-newcastles-greatest-ever-14244231

  8. The 12 week Summer transfer window opened today.

  10. Mike Ashley is on holiday in Barbados at the moment. I wonder if that will slow things down? It all depends on when the option to buy for £4m expires. I can see NUFC going to the last minute of that option if it saves paying his wages during the Summer down time.
  11. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/44138959 I notice all the quoted fans criticising Everton and West Ham for getting rid of their managers never state who they support. Would they be happy with one of these two as their club's manager? This guy has it right: -
  12. At least our English players get to rest and recover and avoid the shit show England will probably produce.
  13. This latest pay off alone is more than 99.99% of us will ever earn across our whole lifetime and yet some in the media think we should feel sorry for him.
  14. He'll be rested and fresh for NUFC come the start of the season. I thought he needed an operation on his knees or something? That's why Rafa said he didn't run back in one of the games we lost. He'd stand holding his knees near the end of games. I'm sure I haven't made that up.

  16. I imagine a billionaire must look on with envy at someone living on the street as that person has so much scope to improve their life where as the billionaire can't go much better.
  17. I doubt Rafa agrees with you.
  18. Garth Crooks' manager of the season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44093575
  19. "every penny generated by the club". It's a shame the club can't generate more money by selling advertising space which is currently taken up by free Sports Direct adverts.
  20. Surely even Mike Ashley won't block the signing of Martin Dubravka? NUFC have a £4m option and the loan fee was around £1.7m so he'll have cost £5.7m in fees. He's worth a lot more than that now after performing in the Premiership.
  21. I presume Murphy and Ritchie will start this game as our only eligible first team wingers.
  22. "Newcastle United's Worst Ever Players Kindle Edition" is currently £0.00 on Amazon: - https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/newcastle-uniteds-worst-ever-players-kindle-freebie-2938163
  23. Man U didn't charge a transfer fee to let him leave for his boyhood club (probably so Everton could pick up his substantial wages). You'd think Man U would be annoyed if Everton get £12.5m for him. Rooney with 1 year left on his contract is worth £12.5m? They should just wait a season and get him for free.
  24. I've edited my post so the World Cup now lasts a month and a day rather than just a day.
  25. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44064957 That must be why the cookie crumbled at Sunderland, he wasn't from there.
