  1. Coming up with a replacement for John Carver reminds me of that episode of 'The Simpsons' where Carl tells Homer "We had a hell of a time replacing you" and it cuts to this image: - http://i.imgur.com/9oEblkp.gif
  2. Do you think Mike Ashley bet big on NUFC when the odds on relegation were 150 to 1?
  3. It would be Newcastle but seeing as we are Newcastle unfortunately we can't play ourselves. I don't think I'd pick West Ham if we had a choice. Their manager has a grudge against us and their team specialise in set pieces.
  4. Arsenal getting a draw off Man U means Arsenal could tie up 3rd with a win over Sunderland. A draw would probably do for Arsenal as they have a superior goal difference to Man U. "We" probably can't beat West Ham at home, in a game of this magnitude. Man U probably can beat Hull though.
  5. To paraphrase Blackadder: - "don't spoil the ship for a ha'p'orth of tar", sir? It is a common phrase down our way. I'm anispeptic, frasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused you such pericombobulation. http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/spoil+the+ship+for+a+hap%27orth+of+tar Quite funny to find this when I put the phrase into Google: - http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/dont-spoil-the-ship-for-a-hapenth-of-tar.803343/
  6. All those saying nothing will change if we stay up don't know that anymore than those saying nothing will change if we are relegated. It's conjecture on both sides. Mike Ashley seems to have never heard the saying "Don't spoil the ship for a ha'p'orth of tar". The tragedy of our situation is that Nufc wouldn't be that hard or (relatively) expensive to run successfully. All he had to do was employ people who were qualified for their jobs. The costs would easily be covered by the increased revenue from finishing higher up the league. You'd think that man was an utter cretin if it wasn't for the fact of how successful SD is. He could have been loved (or at least liked) but his stupidity and tight fistedness have made him hated.
  7. Man U's form is a bit erratic. For example: - Man Utd 0-1 West Brom Sat 2 May Everton 3-0 Man Utd Sun 26 Apr http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/results They weren't good when we played them in March. They only beat us 1 - 0 due to a balls up by our lot in the last few minutes. Still, I have more hope in a Man U team possibly thinking about their holidays, trying to win an away game dead rubber (for them) than I do NUFC 'fighting' for their lives trying to beat a West Ham side with not much to play for.
  8. It's another example of the mismanagement of NUFC that Ryan Taylor is our only player who can take a free kick or corner. That needs to be rectified whatever league we're in next season.
  9. Sky will rejoice if we go down next week. If only all Newcastle fans would cancel their Sky Sports subscriptions in a retaliatory strike.
  10. Can Man U help those who won't (or can't) help themselves?
  11. Whatever the outcome the "lap of thanks" will be interesting next week.
  12. It will be very interesting to see what he does if we don't get relegated. No doubt the longer the Summer goes on, the quicker he'll forget all the "lessons learned" and "mistakes made". If we don't get relegated he needs to employ a decent manager quickly so they can get on with sorting out the mess. If the club dare come out with any statements about "calmly sticking to our plan"! Stay up or get relegated, people need to cancel their season tickets. Send a message that they aren't going to tolerate the appalling mismanagement of the club.
  13. It's still in our hands. We can't rely on NUFC to do anything except lose. Hull have to go for the win against Man U. That may make them susceptible to Man U attacks. Man U winning is our only hope.
  14. He'll probably look pretty good next season (if we are in the Championship).
  15. I watched the whole Hull match, and I thought they looked pretty decent, to be honest. However, there's no way they'll beat Man United next week. They are done for. You, though, have put together an astonishing run of ineptitude to take one point from the last 30. I honestly think if there were another two games left, you'd go down. There aren't, though. You'll be alright. It's more likely that Hull will beat Man U than Newcastle will beat West Ham.
  16. Anita was good at right back. Janmaat replaces him there. Anita playing well at right back doesn't mean he'll play well in midfield.
  17. You've got a good excuse. There's plenty of people who have English as their first/only language who say "loose" when they mean "lose".
  18. We need to buy players who can provide service to the striker/s. In the main our strikers have to create their own chances (or have a 100% conversion rate for the one or two chances they may get a game).
