  1. Sounds like the Northampton Town keeper has made some good saves.
  2. Players out: - Jak Alnwick (Released) Adam Campbell (Released) Jonas Gutierrez (Released) Remi Streete (Released) Ryan Taylor (Released) Sammy Ameobi (New 2 year contract signed and then loaned to Cardiff City for a season) Adam Armstrong (Loaned to Coventry City for half a season) Freddie Woodman (Loaned to Crawley Town) Shane Ferguson (Loaned to Millwall) Remy Cabella (Loaned to Olympique Marseille for the season with an option to buy at the end of the season) Mehdi Abeid (Sold to Panathinaikos for an unconfirmed fee) The contracts of Mike Williamson, Rob Elliot, Haris Vučkić, Gabriel Obertan, Steven Taylor, Shane Ferguson (loaned out), Sylvain Marveaux, Kevin Mbabu and Alex Gilliead all expire in June 2016. The summer transfer window for Premier League clubs closes on Tuesday 1 September at 1800 BST. We can expect the club to try to move most of these players (probably not Steven Taylor) on in the next week (failing that, they could be loaned to Championship clubs in the 'emergency' loan window). The club are also looking to move on Yoan Gouffran and Gael Bigirimana. Players in: - Georginio Wijnaldum (From PSV Eindhoven for a reported £14.5m) Aleksandar Mitrovic (From Anderlecht for a reported £13m) Chancel Mbemba (From Anderlecht for a reported £7m) Ivan Toney (From Northampton Town for an undisclosed fee, possibly £500K) Florian Thauvin (From Olympique Marseille for a reported £12m)
  3. Past history of Newcastle United versus lower league opposition means we should pick a very strong team. This game is a big stage for the Northampton Town players to impress so I'm sure they'll be giving it their all. Fitness permitting I'd start De Jong, Aarons and Tiote (I'd start Dummett if he's fit enough but I doubt he is). I wouldn't start Lascelles or Darlow. They weren't that good in pre-season. I highly doubt we'll see any of the players the club want to sell (Williamson, Vučkić, Bigirimana, Gouffran or Elliot) either. Ivan Toney can be on the bench and can come on if we are winning comfortably (not that we ever seem to against lower league opposition).
  4. I'm so pleased I don't pay for it. It was "United" this, "United" that, so I was already furious by the time Scholes said "United" should be beating teams like Newcastle. I don't even care if it's true, they should at least pretend to be objective. I haven't forgotten Cole singing his "sad Geordie b******" song when they won the FA Cup, and we weren't even there, or Owen's multiple offences. Don't think I'll ever consider BT for anything again tbh. Must remember to fill in every survey I get in future with this marketing information. I think Sky, BBC and ITV are just as bad for favouring the 'big' teams.
  5. tbf he's been here for 7 years, bound to have picked up enough english to get by in that time Carlos Tevez says hi (in Spanish).
  6. His best position is supposedly the number 10 role and NUFC have De Jong, Perez and Wijnaldum ahead of him in the pecking order for that role. He wants to get back in the French squad for UEFA Euro 2016. He'll probably be a guaranteed starter for Marseilles so that gives him a better chance to impress.
  7. Not sure when his contract runs out (NUFC.com have "TBC" for his contact duration) but if it's more than a year then send him out on loan. If Monaco bought him I doubt he'd be anywhere near getting in their first team this season. Loan him to a team he will get playing time at.
  8. Shit performance and result. Having said that, under Pardew we'd have lost 4 - 0. Progress.
  9. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/vurnon-anita-injury-how-long-9821622 Was it Anita who did a few wayward passes which went straight to the opposition? Apart from that (if it was him) he played well.
  10. McClaren mentioned the team building plan taking the next 3 transfer windows. I imagine a lot of that is down to how many players with contracts expiring next Summer. If they all leave that's about 8 players gone without counting players they don't want who have more than a year remaining on their contract. Hopefully a lot of the surplus to requirements players get sold or loaned out this transfer window. Our squad is quite big but the quality isn't great apart from around 15 players. There are a lot of squad places and player wages to free up.
  11. Good news for Sunderland fans, in a rare event, your game won't be last on 'Match of the Day'. It may even be on first!
  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33780720 So West Ham get an almost free new stadium which the taxpayer pays "facilities and services" for and they get to sell their current ground and pocket the profits. Totally unfair on the taxpayer and on all the other football clubs who paid for their own grounds.
  13. Carlos Tevez would have never played in the Premiership if that criteria had been applied to him.
  14. We've hardly scored any goals in the pre season games.
  15. I once heard on 'Sun FM' the DJ read out a traffic report where there was bad traffic in Newcastle. He followed that up with a sneering "Good!". What a sad Mackem bastard. How can a newspaper and radio station allow such pathetic stuff? It won't be long until they end each article with a "FTM". I can't imagine ICNewcastle calling the SAFC stadium the 'Stadium of s****'.
