  1. Probably in the same way they decided Bafétimbi Gomis wasn't value for money even though he was also on a free.
  2. Buying flowers for a millionaire's wife while paying the millionaire a no doubt huge sum of money. Well they do say money goes to money and the richer you are the less you pay for.
  3. Mike Ashley fired Sam Allardyce so he couldn't appoint him to ensure NUFC don't get relegated. Tony Pulis has a job at West Brom. I suppose Steve McLaren fits the employment criteria - English manager who probably won't get NUFC relegated from the Premier League. Don't forget that apparently Alan Pardew was never in any danger of getting sacked.
  4. Why would Vučkić want to sign a 1 year contract extension with NUFC, especially if the plan was to loan him out again?
  5. Dummett is probably now seen as a centre back and only cover for left back. Haidara is our left back. We could do with a senior left back.
  6. 6 players? Jonas and Ryan Taylor were getting in the first team for half the season. Are 2 of the 6 to replace them? We need more than 6 first team players. 3 of our centre backs are out of contract in a year. Are we just going to make do for another season and sort out centre backs next Summer? It's not like our centre backs are that good anyway. I keep seeing mentions that NUFC are going to have a real go at the FA Cup. Why not the League cup too? It's possibly easier to win the League cup.
  7. I think I prefer the wild card option of Patrick Vieira to the safer on paper choice of Steve McLaren but it would be an odd choice for NUFC to take when there are quite a few managers out of contract at the moment with good records and plenty of management experience.
  8. How about sorting out our general play first? Don't see good team going you know what we need lads? A good free kick spspecialist! Most teams have someone who can take a good free kick. We don't. Most teams have a commanding CB, a strong presence in midfield and an accomplished striker. Add to that a coherent passing or counter attacking philosophy. We have none of these, a freekick taker will not be of priority. I'm not saying buy a free kick specialist. I'm saying it would be nice to get a creative midfielder or two who can actually take a decent free kick. How many freekick specials has marvellous Marveaux scored for us? None that I can remember (although I'm not his biggest fan). He did take a few corners which were pretty good though.
  9. How about sorting out our general play first? Don't see good team going you know what we need lads? A good free kick spspecialist! Most teams have someone who can take a good free kick. We don't. We win a free kick in a dangerous position and nothing comes from it. Most teams tend to score quite a lot of their goals from set pieces. Not NUFC.
  10. Well, the clear out has started. Ryan Taylor, Jonas Gutierrez, Jak Alnwick, Remie Streete and Adam Campbell have not been offered a new contract. Sammy Ameobi has been offered a new contract (possibly just to trigger a compensation payment if another club comes in for him). Unknown if Lubomir Satka has been offered a new contract or not. I assume Mike Ashley would be happy to get a fee for any of the players with one year left on their contract (but that includes 3 of our centre backs).
  11. Another year on his contract to go. http://www.nufc.com/2014-15html/squad.html
  12. We now have no one who can take a decent free kick (although that ability seemed to have deserted our one and only free kick 'specialist' Ryan Taylor) unless Sylvain Marveaux gets reintegrated into the squad for that last year of his contract (I doubt that will happen). We need to buy at least one player who can take a dangerous free kick.
  13. If Sammy Ameobi gets any better paid offers from any other clubs he should leave for the good of his career. He didn't even get regular football this season even though there was little in the way of competition for places. I'm hoping NUFC can sign better to replace him.
  14. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32886670 Adam Armstrong is the "worst player" due to the least number of touches of the ball (which is very harsh as he only came on for a few minutes every time we were well beaten). Jak Anlwick has the worst save percentage. John Carver is worst manager.
  15. Doesn't compensation for sacked managers usually mean if they take a new job they only get a pro-rata amount of the compensation I.e. the longer he is out of work the more money he gets from the club who sacked him? I can't see why he'd be in a rush to come to NUFC if he's owed 3 years pay from Derby.
  16. Newcastle United’s TV and merit money income for this season is £75.65m. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/11620171/Premier-League-prize-money-how-much-each-club-earns-in-2014-15.html
  17. Make it known to Championship clubs that Adam Armstrong (and any other promising youngster) is available for a season long loan.
  18. I bet Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow were relieved NUFC stayed in the Premiership. When they signed, I doubt it entered their minds that they could end up playing for NUFC in the Championship.
  19. He passed that ball back to Krul which Krul shanked straight out of play. Janmaat was not impressed with Krul. Hopefully Janmaat stays. He's the sort of player we need to build the squad around. We need another right back to keep him on his toes and provide cover. Daryl Janmaat is our only right back.
  20. Jürgen Klopp is only an unrealistic option because Mike Ashley makes it that way. Ashley could easily afford to offer Klopp a salary and a significant transfer budget which could make NUFC attractive to him. Imagine the buzz in the media if NUFC appointed Jürgen Klopp. All that positive publicity (with SD adverts in the background of all the coverage to please Mike Ashley). It would be a statement of intent and would get the fans back on side. As for Klopp, the job doesn't come with massive expectations like Man City or Liverpool would. It wouldn't take much to improve us. Go to Man City and he would be expected to win the league straight away. Obviously I wouldn't blame Klopp for not being interested but I'd like NUFC to at least ask him.
  21. We could do with some height too. We must have one of the shortest squads on average in the Premiership.
  22. I'd like them to go for Klopp even if he'd more than likely say no. At least approach the best option available before moving on. Apparently Dortmund were in a similar position to Nufc when he took over. They also ran to a limited budget. Ashley could afford to back him. He's even available without having to pay a compensation fee. Better to ask than never ask and never know.
  23. Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. We'll see soon if his words are empty when the new manager is appointed. That needs to be done asap so the rebuild can start.
