  1. On RAWK I've seen them calling us "Death Star FC" and Eddie is "Grand Moff Howe".

    Safe standing

Definitely agree with this. The safe standing area of SJP needs to be the Gallowgate. Having a singing section should be as much about being a visual spectacle as an aural one. Having fans hidden away in the Gods won't help the atmosphere anywhere near as much as having a visual "Kop" end behind the goal.
  3. On Red Cafe over recent times, when they have been in Liverpool's shadow, they have been quite humble but now that they can smell success again the arrogance & entitlement is quickly coming back.
  4. We didn't lay a glove on either of them in the two finals. I'd hope that in this one we at least make the opposition get out of 2nd gear.
  5. Not only that, but on the Glazer thread on Red Cafe they are literally begging to be bought by an oil state.
  6. Trying to wangle a ticket. If not, will be somewhere in the Bigg Market, smashing up phone boxes.

    St James' Park

Can be seen from Sheriff Hill in Gateshead which is probably a couple of miles away. And when travelling back into town on the Coast Road you can see it at about the point when passing Silverlink. That's at least 2 miles too.
  8. Yeah that definitely rings a bell. Something of a stand off between the two sets of fans if I remember right. Just as well that the road that separated the two bars was busy.
  9. Last trip to Wembley for me was the semi-final against Chelsea in 2000 and we drank outside some bar at Baker Street. Got a bit lairy with us on one side of the road and Chelsea fans on the other side. Cant remember at all the name of the pub though.
  10. As someone who grew up on the Gallowgate corner, I always wished that the Gallowgate had a roof back then. Like you say, the noise it could make even without a roof was fantastic. With a roof it would have been unreal. It's the one thing I really envied the Mackems for back then, with the roof that they had over the Fulwell.
  11. Really? I would have been at that game and have no memory of that happening. I'm not saying that it could never go quiet but I don't remember it being so consistently silent like it is these days. And you can guarantee that 90s SJP would have been rocking last night. In the 2nd half the crowd would have picked up on the team struggling to find their rhythm and roared them on to give them a lift. Last night in that half the crowd sat like nervous sheep and waited for something to happen. We can probably put last night down to nerves but it's not an isolated incident to witness such a poor atmosphere, so something has got to change.
  12. You don't have to go back to the days of the terraces for when the atmosphere at games was great. The first 6 years of our time in the PL SJP was a bearpit, the best atmosphere in the country by a long way, and never went quiet in the way it does now. The expansion spoiled that to a degree but even for another 10 years it was still a lot better than what we witness now. The desertion of the 10k a few years ago has really damaged the SJP atmosphere as its clear that the 10k included a lot of the more vocal supporters. And now we have all of this manufactured music dirge making things even worse.
  13. If we aren't careful then people are going to start turning up at every game to witness an atmosphere rather than creating one. The atmosphere at home games is simply becoming too manufactured. The pre and post match music needs to go and there needs to be a drastic reshuffle of seats to make the entire existing Gallowgate a safe-standing section.
  14. Lovely message that. On a footballing level I'm not sad to see him go but hope the remaining years of his career are really good ones.
  15. Wilson looks very frustrated with his own performances at the moment. When subbed he looks seriously pissed off. Would be nice to for him to make up for these sub-par performances in the Liverpool & Cup Final games.
  16. The occasion got to everyone in the 2nd half I think, players & fans alike. It will be a good learning experience for the team on how to manage the psychological aspect of a huge occasion like that and, hopefully, will help them deal with the final better.
  17. It did a bit actually. I can't stand the cunt and the fucking blaring music. It's fucking awful.
  18. Thought he was magnificent in the first 30 mins and he has definitely been more aggressive in recent games. Last night was a lesson to just reign that aggression in a tiny bit.
  19. That just sums up how ridiculously loud the song was played and therefore drowned out the actual supporters singing. The f'cking DJ has got to be given the boot. There is far too much music played at SJP anyway but this idiot was on another level for that last night. Is it the same bloke who is in control of music and makes match announcements etc?
  20. Got the 27th off work now. One way or another I'm going to be in a complete state and in no way fit for work. I've got a mate who is a ST holder and isn't planning on going to Wembley so I might actually be able to get his ticket. He only went to last night's game though so not sure if he will even get a Wembley ticket?
  21. That’s because the home atmosphere at most PL grounds is shit too. But that doesn’t mean we should accept it. I have a strong feeling that a SJP expansion is going to be announced soon. And we need to make sure that a major reorganisation of fans is done while it happens because once all fans are in place after the expansion it will be impossible to shift them. The idiot who is in charge of the PA needs to get the chop too. Drop all the music and let an actual football atmosphere build & climax naturally. The fucking idiot even spoiled the final whistle atmosphere by playing que sera at 1 million decibels. I swear he would play music throughout the entire game if he could, the prick.
  22. Is this Sabitzer any good? Last thing we need is Man U being even stronger for the final FFS.
  23. Completely true. And there is going to need to be a big rethink by the club on how to turn this around. If they expand the Gallowgate to Level 7 then there has to be a big resuffle of season ticket holders and the entire existing Gallowgate below Level 7 to be made into a safe-standing singing end. As a fanbase our songbook is dreadful at home and a newly created Kop end can help remedy that.
  24. Jesus, what a wretched 2nd half, the occasion totally got to them in that half. Need to learn how to handle pressure situations like that better as the final will be even more intense. First 25 mins was magnificent though and thats what they need to focus on...play like they did for the remaining 65 mins against Man U though and it will be curtains.
