  1. allow me to elaborate 1: "exact opposite of what we're supposed to be all about these days" No. Gutierrez, Coloccini, Nacho on loan. All mid 20's. The myth that "the system" was only going to sign under 23's and develop them is ridiculous. It seems people dream up whatever details they like about "the system" when they want to have a pop at anything Ashley/Wise/"System" related. 2: "mike and his asset stripping eh?" What? What does that even mean? Are you saying he's currently asset stripping? Are you saying he has done? What outbound transfers since he's arrived would lead you to believe that? What firesale have we gone through that would qualify as asset stripping? Asset stripping has some very specific connotations going along with it. Just because someone is sold at a profit doesn't qualify it as asset stripping. thanks 1. what i'm getting at i suppose, is that very clearly nolan & taylor have not been scouted and assessed for months on end then moved for as our priority targets to strengthen the squad...the shit has hit the fan and we're panic buying again, surely to fuck the exact thing this "system" was meant to end (we assume) no? because operating like that for years got us here in the first place...no? for your spiderman/colo (one free mind you, who'll be worth millions if/when he moves on) i'll raise you a bassong/guthrie - bought cheap & young...however i agree that it's obviously not the intention of the system to buy players who only increase in value, of course not which brings me to: 2. i'm pointing out that nolan/taylor signings don't fit the asset stripping argument that i don't subscribe to Sorry then, guess I'm reading this board with negative tinted specs, completely misread point #2. we're all at it atm moment, plus i'm writing through booze fog half the time, surprise it makes as much sense as it does sometimes, which isn't much anyways

  3. so, er, so much for the transfer system and forward planning eh? took the owner to pitch up for his first game in months to see in the flesh how truly, utterly diabolical we are before we scramble for players who appear the exact opposite of what we're supposed to be all about these days, i.e. both mid-late 20's and will be coming to get more money than where they are now and will have little or no residual value in 2-3 years time mike and his asset stripping eh? oh wait that doesn't work does it...like everything else

    SHEARER

Erm... you mean he has the sanity to stay away? Owt to have a dig at the bloke nowadays man. something in the middle is true imo, shearer won't risk his reputation imo until the time is right, different from not having the balls but not 1m miles away Venables turns it down and he's sensible for staying away from the mess. Shearer turns it down and he's got no balls. I hate these people who've got this idea in their head, that Shearer should still be committed to the Newcastle cause. As HTT said, he owes us fucking nothing - despite what some people will have you think (should have gone in 04, etc). He's not a member of Newcastle United as it stands (folklore, sure, but not today)... therefore he is merely another managerial candidate. If he doesn't want it then hats off. He doesn't have to prove his love for this club as far as i'm concerned. so what, exactly, is your point then? half cut!!! to answer cogently now, i suppose i'm in mild disagreement with you - not saying he has to prove his love or anything but he's happy for all and sundry to see him as "mr newcastle" and openly discusses his prospects of managing the club in the future as if it's a forgone conclusion almost (iirc) it's a case of shit or get off the pot for me...we need him now imo simply 'cause he'd be better than and while we all know he ain't gonna come now when we eventually get relegated with ashley/ dream team we're gonna need him then
  5. kind of my feelings about it too, if his next manager handles him correctly then he'll be an excellent player...we're growing a worrying tendency at NUFC to see players as robots who should perform regardless of their personal circumstances and character, not how it works in any walk of life, footballs no different EDIT: reading the articles about his reasons for wanting to leave he can fuck right off for me...i still believe what i said above but don't invent some shite about being insulted to get your move son, come out and say you're sick of being messed about on the pitch and playing for shite managers who don't progress your career one iota...just don't fuckin lie about it as much as we don't like it footballers have themselves to consider, n'zogbia will no doubt think his stagnation as a footballer is down to the shit club he's at and the lack of quality management and coaching he's had...while that's true for the most we all know his attitude has played a part too

  8. there you have the problem with the DOF. If the player recruiting is not good enough, whats the point of keeping him on and changing the manager ? Still, I suppose one or two numpties will still stand by it Do you think the quality of the player recruitment has been acceptable? Quantity is far and away the main issue for me. The squad is threadbare to say the least. edit: by the way, I realise that this is the fault of the recruitment. I'll admit I thought the 2 Argies were great at Old Trafford, I'm sure if I say anything different then baggy will triumphantly remind me, although using hindsight in the manner of someone like mandiarse isn't really me. I still think Jonas is a quality player, in spite of his lack of goals, but Colocinni [and I posted this a while ago, maybe in the thread about him] lacks the strength to be a top centre half in the premiership. I like centre halfs who stand up tall, like he did at Old Trafford, but he hasn't repeated that enough for me. Bassong looks by far the best and along with Taylor is our best central defensive pairing. Guthrie was Keegans signing, at least he says he was, and he;s OK but a bottom half premiership player and a typical player you get for that price bracket. He might be a good lad but that is irrelevant in the cold light of day. The others are, well, forgettable. Smith has been a huge disappointment, Viduka was nothing more than a cheap and poor replacement for Shearer. The best signings made since Ashley have been Jonas and Beye by a country mile. Faye was solid it was disappointing to see him sold to Stoke. Enrique - one minute he looks good, the next he is poor. Maybe he is young and adapting, when Barton had a go at him for not tracking the other week he was right. Wrong to do it in the way he did, but right in what he thought. He is quite quick and strong, but I must admit I don't really like lazy minded defenders doing things like that too often, however good they may be on the ball. Selling Given for the reasons he will leave, losing Owen, and the general situation at the club completely negates any of the few successes they have made in the transfer market, including allowing the squad to be so small, this is why we are now staring down right at the drop zone and to be honest, under the current policy we wouldn't have any chance of putting together the bricks to come back and make a better fist of it. dude, if you posted more about football only matters you'd fuckin own 75% of the people on this board
  9. he's a human, professional football playing CM with a record of existing in this league...everyone saying anything to the contrary should probably shut the fuck up
  10. Get a grip, and I don't mean of your penis as you look at a photo of KK. of your throat Nixon? ooooh la la t'internet hard man the internet frenchman,.....unusual for a frog to get involved in someone elses fight,... surrender monkey. that's a bit rich coming from a blinkered die-hard fan who thinks the sun shines out of Keegan's blow hole. The one true surrender monkey in all of this mess. oooh! you'll be getting PM'd abuse any second now dude...! you actually believe your that cartoon character in your Avatar, dont you. cp40, after our recent PM's of mutual dislike and mild abuse i thought we might leave it there but apparently not, you fucking buffoon keep 'em coming, come on numbnuts...
  11. diablo, your moving is immense, you're my new personal hero
  12. the more stories and supposed targets come in from the news my fears increase rather than decrease...fred, for example, on a free from lyon sounds like exactly the type we're gonna move for now & can anyone guess how that'd work out if he came....? strokes beard and imagines a Brazilian coming in on a free and performing like a 10m player
  13. could ashley find 20m to save a potential loss of 100m+? pretty sure he fucking could if he wanted, question is does he? apparently not
  14. West Ham aren't exactly in financial utopia! Bellamy wanted out as well, even 'rumoured' to have said goodbye to teammates before the deal was done! They got 14 mil for a 29 year old striker with a couple of good years left in him max, and they played very little hardball! We are getting offered 5 mil for one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the league who has at least 5 top quality years ahead! We have every right to expect more, however at this stage, and with the injuries(and performance) last night it is essential to get some players involved, along with cash! With Barton out Johnson, Gelson or maybe both would be a good deal, and I would also like to see us try for a wee loan deal involving Sturridge or even Evans. Staying near the pc hoping for this situation to be sorted today/tonight plust at least one signing, expecting to be disappointed. i'm on your side and see your point, west ham however certainly aren't in any way shape or form in the dire straights we are on the pitch are they? although they've got problems they publicly came out and said zola didn't have to sell anyone and they've now gone and reinvested most (all?) of the money the got for him on someone else which backs that up man city obviously felt a striker, def mid & left back were top priority for them for the rest of the season and have acted accordingly...i think they know they'll get by well enough with hart for the rest of this season and pick given up when we get relegated and are acting accordingly
  15. to answer the original question from the point of view of MA - not another 10-20m apparently
  16. why would they offer more? said this before, unlike their other buys we're massively up shit street and are there for the taking...if i had anything to do with it from the citeh side it's what i'd be offering too seeing as the whole fucking world knows he wants out as well
  17. My thoughts precisely... I've squandered so much time attempting to apply logic or any kind of thought process and there isn't one... They're a bunch of fucking spastics, a cockney market trader who lucked out but whose house is tumbling down now he's been exposed as a 1 trick pony know nothing gambler, a bunch of his poker buds and some cunt who we all thought was dead ( ) only logic i can apply is the gamblers: he's gambled his 250m or whatever it is and faces the choice of going to the billionaires ATM and withdrawing another 20m in a final attempt to win his stake back but has simply decided it isn't worth it there can be no other explanation and someone else said it but the day stops being funny is the day i die
  18. be very, very interesting to look back on this if we stay up just so we never forget how truly fucking appalling the 3 teams that kept us up must have been...imagine being one of those teams, to outdo us for shitness this season will really take some doing
  19. i just can't understand any of it, what the fuck does he think the outcome will be if we don't sign some more players? we've just lost 2 more and we already needed plenty anyways...maybe he's retarded
  20. this season has edged along with all the pace of evolution, i've just realised that this is the same season barton was in fucking jail i just want it to end
  21. Oh my "Owen's injury also means former Leeds and Manchester United marksman Alan Smith will not be allowed to join Liverpool. " Eh? exactly, maybe is writing articles on the clubs behalf now, sounds just like something he'd come out with
  22. Yet another English manager from the old boy network, mates with Sky presenters & the cockney press. Not good enough, never was, never will be. kept a shit team in the PL - check better than JFK - check make it keep us up and we'll talk about a long term deal or something...we're going down with JFK dude It's like asking which is better, cancer or a heart attack. you're off your head, how on earth can you suggest curbishley would be anywhere near as bad as JFK for the remainder of the season?
