It would need to be someone good enough to play as Woltemade and Wissa don’t appear to be good enough. I would sell either if we could get close to our money back, which is unlikely. We have PSR headroom and we’ll likely get a lot from sales in the summer, so money shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m assuming Osula will need replacing.
-
There should be a lot of players leaving. Ramsdale Trippier Krafth Willock Osula And from the first XI there’s talk of Livramento, Tonali, and Gordon going. At a bare minimum we need a GK, LB/CB, RB/CB, CM, and a ST. But realistically it might be 2/3 more.

Hopefully the owners have got to grips with our recruitment issues and restructured the team. The DoF needs to run the show, no unanimous votes and no family members getting involved (if Eddie’s nephew needs work he can go and scout in Belgium or something). If the owners haven’t taken action there (beyond just hiring another body in Wilson) then we’re fucked anyway. Eddie has tactical limitations, those limitations existed even when we were at our best. This one is completely up to him, he needs to coach the team to be less reliant on physically dominating teams. It’s not going to work anymore. I’m still on the fence, if I was owner I would talk to him about how he plans to approach things in the summer. If he expects to boss the transfers and has no issue with our style of play, then I’d probably end it in May. If he wants to make changes then I’d keep him.

I think our training sessions are just bleep tests tbf.

I think we threw in the towel on European places last month.
-
It’s not his fault. It was obvious we needed an alternative during January.

The ref just looks like he’s panicking when he’s watching the same replay a dozen times.

What upturn in Ramsey?
-
Maybe they tried to and it went wrong. But on the other hand, why should they care? If this is all true then Tonali clearly hasn’t formed a connection with Newcastle, so what does he lose by making it public?
-
It’s the ideal time, the competent teams are lining up their summer moves now and he’s letting them know he’s interested.
-
I’d rather he stayed, he’s proven he can be a top player and I don’t think his recent form is anything to do with a bad attitude or lack of effort. If a player is interested in leaving though I’d rather they left, and we need to plan for the summer. Hopefully they speak to him to clarify what he wants.

You often see a similar narrative in the summer. June and July are difficult, especially when there’s a tournament on. Most of August is difficult because the season is starting and clubs are reluctant to be left without. Prime transfer window time is maybe about 2 days at the start of August.

I was surprised by how little I gave a shit about seeing Isak at Liverpool. My position now is if a player wants to go, or is “happy” but sending out feelers to other clubs, then flog them and forget they ever existed.
-
That’s literally off course, just not by much.
-
How are we on course for Europe if we’re 11th?

The bloke plays with his own spit in public.
-
He’ll become a big player in a league where he gets more time on the ball and isn’t crowded as much.
-
Best thing about losing to Man City is you’re very unlikely to meet any of their fans, and if you do they don’t seem to care much anyway.
-
He must have had more pace than this before his injury? I have memories of him and Mbeumo killing teams on the counter.
-
I think we were due a pumping tbh based on this seasons performances.
-
Why stay at a club that has blips when you can agitate for a move to a club that is around the top every year and is protected by the financial rules?
-
Traore has better ball control, Elanga has better delivery. I don’t think they’re that far apart though, both are quite basic pace merchants.

Go on then...Rate the January 2026 Transfer Window

I think we got good money for Isak, he’s talented but prone to falling off. He didn’t break through at Dortmund, fell off at Sociedad and he’s done it again at Liverpool. He may still be a success there but it’s also possible Newcastle will be the best period of his career. There’s something flimsy about him. Only problem is we wasted the money we got. -
Casemiro isn’t a bad player but there’s no way he represents value for money. Signings have to be measured against how much they cost.
