Manuel Fernandes has to be made the #1 target IMO, he's a class player already and is only going to get better. Benfica are looking for around that £11m, but if Ashley is serious about looking to "revive a fallen giant"(or some bullshit like that), then he should be able to afford that, good players cost good money. And it would prove to be a bargain IMO, a classy DM that has proven he can handle the premiership. If we buy Barton then that tells me we're going to settle for mid table again, he's a nothing player. If HE was Portuguese we would never have heard of him.

Wouldn't take the risk, get Ben Haim (free) and Hyppia/Campbell (cheap) instead. Those 8m would be better spent on a left back and tightening our midfield. He's a top 15 CB in the world IMO, genuine class. If we got him, Ben Haim, Viduka, and a left back(for 4-5m) i would be a happy boy.

I think it will be Ben Haim/Taylor, which i would be happy with. I'm disappointed that we're not being linked to Andrade though, the guys been wanting to leave Deportivo(christ they're bad these days, unbelievable) for a while now and it looks like Barca probably won't be making a bid. A Portuguese chap i know reckons he would be interested. It's a shame because he would be the perfect signing. :'(

What would be the point in keeping Roeder? Fat Sam is superior when it comes to man-management and tactics aswell, so surely you would want him directly incharge of the team.

For me it doesn't make a big difference who is captain, if you are a good leader then you lead, whether you have the armband or not. If Terry didn't have the armband at Chelsea would that stop him yelling at his teammates and leading the backline??? Parker probably won't be leaving in the summer anyway.

I was told that a good manager wouldn't need a Director of Football. Wenger is a top class coach, all this means is that he will have somebody there to organize the clubs scouting, negotiating etc, so that he can focus on what he does best.

1. Roeder needs to go ofcourse and a competent manager needs to be brought in, it will be pointless though if we just bring in a plonker like Steve Bruce though. Personally i want Sven, but it looks i'm alone in that. 2. An attacking midfielder is only a priority if the new manager wants one, if his system requires one then ofcourse we should get one. I'm all for selling Emre though. All his set pieces end up hitting the first man, when he's pressured his passing goes all over the place, he's easily bullied out of the game, he's got temper problems, he hardly gets any goals or assists despite apparently being our most creative player, he's injury prone, and he's on ridiculous wages. Basically he's just not suited to the premiership and i see no reason to keep him. 3. The post mentioned earlier from 'Shamen' sums up my feelings on Owen-Martins, i'd wait to see if it works before i talk about selling one of them. Selling Martins would be quite foolish though IMO, what with Owens recent injuries.

No, he had 2 great seasons with Reading in the championship, he's the main man there and has been for a while. I'd also say he's more like Carrick than he is like Parker.
